In both games i saw toady i was shocked in the same sort of approach from the other club TTG supporters where racist to a few of the indigneous players from Angle Vale, especially from a club that has higher division and this is there c and d grade.
On the game you stop there stars you win the game dow, uncle, noske all had no infulence on the game and only roughton and Haynes played apart.
Gr8 game to watch
lets enjoy the week off.

Wish it was that easy BPwizard. You copped them without Mount and Mann. They are worth 6-8 goals alone. Mount is the best player in Div7 for mine. Easier to control Uncle on his own but when they are both in there, now that is a completely different story. It also frees up Noske to run defensively and with Mann up forward it gives Dow more rest time. Really surprised about the racism comment, always found the TTG supporters to be passionate but fair.

The round 9 clash between Flinders Park and Henley should be interesting. Both clubs have a bit of history and it would appear Flinders Pk were honing their poor discipline and anger management yesterday in preparation. Not nice to see an 18yo kid get kinghit 50 metres off the play, especially from someone who has played at the elite level. Concentrate on footy Reds I would suggest.

Wrong, he was down for some time and I did see it because I had just put the kid on him and watched it closely. It was crude to say the least. The reaction from his closest team mates said it all.

Then you didn't watch too closely, No 16 is an 18yo kid too who is playing his first year of seniors and wouldn't harm a fly. With some of what went down in the 1st quarter he would have been timid and not looking to get involved.

Not sure what game you were watching Lightning, however the language and behaviour from the Smithfield supporters situated next to the coaches boxes was disgusting throughout both games! As far as the racial comments that may or may not have been said this was addressed by the Modbury coach at half time and all players have been made well aware throughout the season that any comment of that nature will not be tolerated or condoned.

Both coaches did as much as they could, within their power, to discipline players as required and ensure the game was played in good spirits.
Other than an on field incident and the incident after the final siren the game was a hard hitting contest which saw both teams putting their head over the ball and attacking hard.

Hoping the Modbury player who left the field in the 2nd and also #5 for Smithfield are ok!

Suffice to say there were few unsavory incidents from both sides, nothing really too untoward from my standpoint though.

Cook definitely gave one to our young defender before he went on a lead, it was a bit of a dog act, but, it sorted itself out in the end and Sarge let him know that he can't get away with that sort of crap. I was looking forward to watching Cook play yesterday, but after seeing that incident and then his pretty much non-effort unless there was a small sniff of a goal was disappointing.

Was a good game in the first match, tight struggle all day. Wind wrecked havoc to make it quite scrappy, probably to our advantage. Hope the bloke that needed the ambulance ended up recovering ok.

Was another good performance from Mitchell Park. Really starting to gel.

I commented on the bs that HAWKBOY came out with, I wouldn't of said a thing and let the correct channels do what they have to do to sort it out.
I'll take your comments on board and advise the Smithfield committee in regards to the poor language, I think Modnog was pretty close to reality.

Modnog wrote:The Modbury v Smithfield game was a tough physical game, but played, in the most part, in the best of spirits. As a player, it was a good old fashioned hit out by two relatively evenly matched opponents. Unfortunately an on field incident occurred that has no place in footy. The Modbury players had it made quite clear by the coach at half time that that sort of thing will not be tolerated. As for the player involved, he was lead by the Modbury coach at the end of the game to apologise to the player concerned. The most disappointing event occurred after the siren, between Modbury spectators and Smithfield players. Support your team and club but what I witnessed from certain Modbury supporters was disgraceful. My wife and son left at half time and I can say I'm glad they did as they were disgusted by the behaviour and language of certain individual supporters. Modbury needs to reassess the clubs position regarding inappropriate behaviour and language, to ensure families can enjoy watching local footy without being subjected to that sort of behaviour. If I was the visiting team today, I'd say the lack of action by Modbury club officials could almost be mistaken as condoning such behaviour! It detracted greatly from what was a gusty win by the players you are supposedly supporting!

Fair assessment, it's always quick and easy to hang shit on Smithfield due to their economic state and location. There's been history between the two clubs for some time and the feral tag runs thin after a while.

Lightning you are joking? I do not condone any racial slur, in any forum for any reason. I heard none from the Modbury people under the verandah, but in my opinion the comments went too far. This is no way condones the disgusting way in which firstly a single player acted and then a number of your supporters. I appluad the supporter who put himself between the ugly confrontation and I reiterate not one single racial comment was forthcoming from the Modbury supporters.
BS it is not, disgusted I certainly was.

I wasn't at the game so commenting on any incidents would be prudent of me. But, I have been to Smithfield a few times before, albeit in a bus, but I had hoped the attitude out there may have changed. The coaches boxes are way too close to the supporters and banter can be an issue. We have a lot of "kids" in our team so should I be prepared for our round 10 clash?

Glad the mid season break is here. Gives everyone a chance to catch their breath and take the aggression out of things. C'mon Div 7 posters, this is a great comp so let's show the footy world that there ain't much between the divisions. Show some pride. :D

Having already played you Yank Man I would have thought you would be able to form an opinion from that.

Hawkboy I also was at the game, and it was a tough hard game that should be remembered for that. Both sides played well and you blokes came out on top. So well done. Years ago sledging was an accepted part of Australian sport, I am sure a lot of older readers would remember "ya mum wears army boots" etc. The sad part is that sledging has gone to a more personal level these days and social acceptance of what is said has changed. We have worked hard at Smithfield over the last couple of years to change the perception that people have of us. This is the first time that any club has refered back to the old days. Whilst we have been changing our image, we have not changed our passion for the game, we will not back down when our players are unfairly abused, and that is a fact. I was one of the Smithfield people that came into your club after the game to buy a drink and therefore support your club. I found the people i spoke to great. Unfortunately the game cannot finish with the siren, it must finish with the SAAFL. Regardless of that good luck for the rest of the year, and hopefully we have no issues for the rest of the year. By the way the comments from fortheloveofthegame have been taken on board and I did chat our supporters on the day.

No, they played against each other in 2009 as well.
Was a pretty poor showing from Henley C's and D's I'm led to believe on Saturday.
I was expecting more from them this year after coming down from D6, but they are no threat for the premiership now imo.
