Gaza were put under enormous pressure at the centre bounces against Gepps and got smashed in the clearances, something thier not used to and I strongly doubt that they will allow it to happen again. Gaza were also very sluggish in ruck apart from No 25 who always gives a good account of himself. Gepps are travelling along quite nicely and Jason has a lid on things, and agree with you C.C, still a fair bit of improvement to be had.

Number 25 for GAZA is that Kapelle? Heard a lot about him the past couple of seasons, how is he going this year?

Yes it is Jack Kappelle.. Very consistent player. Quite modest as well.

haha, you've lost it... Gaza will be there on the last day of the season dont you worry.. Gepps are the ones you'll have to watch choke im thinking.. Gaza are full of experienced heads that have played plenty of finals in div one.

Who's fault will it be this year when Gaza bomb out in straight sets or get there & lose another GF?
Be careful Darren Mead, the football department at Gaza will have the knives out once again, just ask Greg Anderson what it felt like!

The only thing in those experienced Gaza heads are a mindfull of repeated failings, chokings and underachieving. Yeah, they've played in plenty of finals but I'd like to know their W/L ratio since they've been up.
Don't kid yourself Bubbula, Gaza are fast track bullys but when it gets tough as it does in the finals they are found wanting.

We will have to wait but ponder this while you do. In the 7 completed seasons since Gaza came up to Div 1 they've had these impressive minor round finishes. A 4th, 2 x 2nd and 4 minor premierships but alas, just the 1 flag. That W/L ratio amounted to evens and they have nothing new to suggest this season will be any different.

Cool, thats a bit of a port power figure but atleast they get there.. They may stumble at the final hurdle. Big deal, it happens.. Do you them to win every premiership or something.. Someone else has to win it. As was stated recently, its who ever brings the better game on the big day.. Maybe its other teams being hungrier for it or something of that nature.

well i say what a fantastic effort by Gaza. Name the other sides that have gone from Div 2 and what they have done. Edwardstown (yo,yo and struggled in div2) Seaton (yo,yo) Port Districts (yo,yo) Henley (struggled to stay in) PHOS (yo,yo) TTG (struggling).

Sides are rarely really that successfull when they go up.

I say Gaza has done a magnificent job and from an outsider i feel Jars had a lot to do with it along with a strong board.

Well done GAZA

Gaza have done a great job, they have themselves firmly entrenched in Div 1 which a lot of other clubs cannot do. It's not an easy task, some people might be under the misapprehension that it's just a matter of getting there and everything happens automatically, believe me, it ain't that easy. I also think that Jars can take a lot of credit for that, it helps having someone with a profile along with a strong and committed board.

A High profile coach definately helps but its also having the likes of the Mark Bayliss and Trevor Holst variety behind the scenes that make a good club run smoothly. Not sure if these 2 are still heavily involved out there but they were tireless workers for the club when I was there.

Efc, you are spot on when it comes to yoyo clubs, its not easy to stay up consistantly & yes Jars ( especially ) Weed, Ando & now Meady all have made an impact in some way as coaches of the Gaza F/C.

Bubblula, great to see its a family club, i question the board big time, any board members IF they have a problem with the style of coaching ( like I KNOW they had with Ando ) or doubting the coaches ability in anyway, should be administered to that coach privately not to any Tom, Dick, or Harry, involved or not with the club.
I must say i heard it first hand from one of the board members ( i was Harry ) & i was scathing back to this so called board member after a"finals" game at Gaza, which Gaza won & went straight in the Grand Final.
I couldn't believe this jerk was saying to me that Ando can't coach & he won't be there next year & players don't want him there yet he just got them into a Grand Final.
To me thats not the sign of a great board, thats disgraceful.
Thats why i say watch out Meady.

Well, I never knew I about that.. The boards job is to hire and fire really and if they do schit like that I guess they arent doing there job but in saying that it may only have been one guy saying that but who knows..

CC has posted on the Barossa thread that Scott Leal may be getting the job at Broadview next year. How are Seelander's prospects for a job next year? Is he a bad coach or does he just not have any cattle? I've heard that in the past he has not been well liked, is this true?

Just a rumour, have heard that too, whoever started it is just trying to start some trouble, as far as i know, he is well liked by the players and has put a lot of time into the club for the future. The performance this year comes down to the cattle on the park, if you have seen us play, you would have seen how unexperienced our A grade has been. Can't blame him for that.

Further more to the above story, agreed that Scott Leal has a good relationship with D Wintle and certain players from Norths, but i wouldn't discount the realtionship with Wintle and current players at Broadview, plus he is an old Broadview boy, so obviously the hope is that he would come back anyways. I would be really surprised if the club were to appoint a new coach again so soon, 4 coaches in 5 years. I would much rather we addressed the problem of players leaving, for money or other reasons. that is far more important.

Shirtfront, i Ithink if you speak to the correct people, you might find they would have loved Leal to have been there this year but had some unfinished business. Scott has a big following, he's great with the "off field' stuff as well. My indications are that if he or D Wintle throw their caps in the ring, they get it!
