Half way thru the 3rd quarter it was 11 goals to 7. Don't worry marbles I have been on the end of more than a few shellackings at shark park and I'm sure the return bout will be a similar encounter. We both pride ourselves on home ground advantage. Thought your boys were very gracious in defeat. A rare quality. Beware a bitten shark I say.

HAWKBOY did you head down to Flinders on Saturday?

Heard there was no changeroom facilities and the boys had to get changed in the carpark? few motorists may have got an eyeful ;)

Also heard there was a 78 year old umpire who could hardly move and was seriously struggling in the last Quarter?

From the sounds of it, we didnt play overly well and they flooded numbers back after half time? A wins a win

Surprisingly renovations are underway, so we had no changerooms, no ready access to water and obviously no showers after the game. Flinders Uni did however. My suggestion would be give as we got when they visit us, but being gentlemen that won't happen. Terrible game to watch. We showed them no respect at the start and then to compound our problems we played like millionaires. Our younger players thought it would come easy and the experienced guys just couldn't pick the ball up. all in all it's a long way to go to witness that. Our really good backman came off before half time and never went back on and then our best onballer looks like he did his knee with 5 minutes to go. I'm really sorry, but I have got to learn who is who.

I did forget to mention the 2 umpires. The one you are referring to looks like the gent who does the canteen for us, but much older. If he didn't serve in WW1 I will go forth. The other guy refused to watch the game and was always looking elsewhere. One of our supporters was contiinually asking him to watch the game and he may get a correct decision. Very funny, but so frustrating.

For an A Grade club the lack of communication from Flinders regarding the changerooms was dissapointing especially considering the lengths that MP went to at short notice with their problems. They were aware of the changeroom issues during the week and failed to notify anyone at Modbury prior to players turning up for the 12.15 game. Modbury were able to use the Flinders Gym to change and shower however this was on the other side of the oval, over the road and set back a distance. Players and coaches agreed to change on the side of the oval to save time trekking back and forth and lugging equipment. Modbury boys definately didn't have their heads in the game to start. They lost a key backman in the 2nd, #1 centreman in last along with the coach.

Unfortunately due to key leaders within the team being unavailable Modbury coach did play and his voice across the field was imperitive but his instruction and voice from the bench was sorely missed.

Flinders Uni did play a good game, but with a full strength Modbury side the result should be much different next time.

With good numbers coming back into the side this week for Modbury, which will cover their injuries from the weekend, they should be a better outfit overall and can hopefully string together some consistency!

Where did they lose them? Did they opt for the changerooms across the road?

Lost to injury! Flinders Uni had changerooms on the soccer side of the clubrooms - it was just the away teams which are still under construction.

I'm interested to hear from the Mitchell Park people how Matty Davidson is going? Good mate of mine, but I haven't seen him have a kick since he was a kid.

Hurt his leg a fortnight or so ago. Was in solid form before that and had a good game on the weekend.

Quite an important cog in our midfield rotations I would have thought, provides great run, voice and an outside skill set.

Don't know about the Abe Lincoln beard though.

Davo is in the leadership trio and will be a captain of the club in the very, very near future. Class player and a dedicated clubman with exceptional voice and quality skills. Very versatile cos he plays back, mid and forward but is right in our midfields rotation right now.

And the beard morrell? I'm with you.

Today I witnessed why others have stated that Smithfield should not be in the SAAFL. Supporters and players trying to incite physical violence with Modbury supporters after the game and only 1 Smithfield person trying to stop it. Surely the SAAFL needs to look closely at the events from today.
Footy Smart would the club look to submit a report to the SAAFL?

You might want to re-think that post mate, the indigenous don't like to be referred to a certain adjective. A Smithfield away game might attract maybe 100 supporters in total? Look in your own backyard hey?

I agree with you lightning.
In both games i saw toady i was shocked in the same sort of approach from the other club TTG supporters where racist to a few of the indigneous players from Angle Vale, especially from a club that has higher division and this is there c and d grade.
On the game you stop there stars you win the game dow, uncle, noske all had no infulence on the game and only roughton and Haynes played apart.
Gr8 game to watch
lets enjoy the week off.

I just can't believe a Modbury poster would get on here and post the crap he just posted. Wake up mate and smell the roses, you can't deliver that sort of crap, you got told at half time and still didn't control your posse, disgraceful.

The Modbury v Smithfield game was a tough physical game, but played, in the most part, in the best of spirits. As a player, it was a good old fashioned hit out by two relatively evenly matched opponents. Unfortunately an on field incident occurred that has no place in footy. The Modbury players had it made quite clear by the coach at half time that that sort of thing will not be tolerated. As for the player involved, he was lead by the Modbury coach at the end of the game to apologise to the player concerned. The most disappointing event occurred after the siren, between Modbury spectators and Smithfield players. Support your team and club but what I witnessed from certain Modbury supporters was disgraceful. My wife and son left at half time and I can say I'm glad they did as they were disgusted by the behaviour and language of certain individual supporters. Modbury needs to reassess the clubs position regarding inappropriate behaviour and language, to ensure families can enjoy watching local footy without being subjected to that sort of behaviour. If I was the visiting team today, I'd say the lack of action by Modbury club officials could almost be mistaken as condoning such behaviour! It detracted greatly from what was a gusty win by the players you are supposedly supporting!
