No player will ever play two games (as much as I'd like to  ). B Grade should have enough.

Why?

When we were short at one stage up to 8 A graders(including my fat\lazy self) used to play around 7 quarters. The A grade coach at the time didn't like it but we couldn't let our mates play with 13 against a full squad. In fact sometimes I miss not playing two games.

But to your B grades credit even though they were going to lose they were in good spirts and able to have a good laugh(mainly at my shocking goal kicking), they never started doing stupid things like going for our players heads etc like some clubs do... Yesterday was good day out, was a great oval to play on even if we had to pay to get in.

Why? Thought that would be obvious.

By the time players reach that second game, they've already spent a bit of energy and when you want players getting to as many contests as possible, especially to win the disputed ball, it compromises the quality of game that the A-Grade can produce.

The players out there still enjoyed having a kick and in the end it was just a bad week not helped by 3 lads pulling out on Saturday morning.

Great game played out at Thebby yesterday with both teams loving the space on offer. We managed to hit the lead in the last quarter, but couldn't hold on as Glenunga answered with a couple of quick goals to put the game beyond reach. Was really impressed by the effort of our lads, especially with our co-captain going down early in the game. The B-Graders that came up for the game busted their nuts in a real team effort. The Easter break comes at a perfect time for us.

Because of 7 outs from the A Grade - 2 at a wedding, 3 on holidays, 2 soft tissue injuries.

It was a good game indeed and I thought Houghton's effort was outstanding. 34 shots on goal to 16 really should have seen a much more comfortable victory for us, but to Houghton's credit they pressured our shots on goal and were good enough to grab their chances in front of goal. I forsee more goal kicking practice!!

houghton at houghton is a classic day out. in '07 out there i filled in as b grade ump and the blokes in the timekeepers box questioned every decision i made. even called me by my name which was a nice touch.
the utes backed up with couches and eskies is what the footy is all about.
looking forward to heading out there in the return bout.
enz maione is an on old blacks lad that i went through school with so will be able to catch up him after a few years in different divs.

ahh good ol houghton, the handful of supporters that actually rocked up to the game i played last year were on fire, they got on the cans early and we copped it all day! didnt help i played on a bloke who had the game of his life, but nothing better than local footy supporters passionate about their club!

Round 4

Henley v Ingle Farm
Glenunga v Kenilworth
Blackfriars v Houghton
Adelaide Uni v Trinity
Central United v Colonel Light

Some interesting matches this week. Could upset a few tipsters.
Henley and Ingle Farm - could go either way. When we played Ingle Farm a couple weeks ago they went alright and I think Henley are struggling this year but Henley at home should get up just.
Glenunga and Kenilworth at Webb - If Kenilworth are the real deal (and IMO they are) they should take care of Glenunga reasonably comfortably.
Blacks and Houghton - Blacks were good last week against us and it appears that Houghton have improved a bit too. Could be closer than people think. Blacks probably have too many quality runners.
Adelaide Uni v Trinity - Going by the first 3 rounds we should win but we wont be taking them lightly.
Central United v Col Light - Match of the round I think. Will tell us a bit more about how likely final aspirations are for both teams. I haven't seen Col Light this year but know they have had a big turnover of players. Central United are a good team and would expect them to get up at home.

What do others think?
