I would imagine the boys are looking forward to playing your lads again if we can field a full strength side.

Footy Smart do you know anything about a Flinder Park player showing his testicles to the umpire? Some of the guys drinking at the local made comment about it.

I think he was trying to say he copped a low blow.... im not sure on the 'smaller' details

few blokes said it was one of the more humerous things they have seen on the footy field

As has been said, our C grade side depends so much on the higher grades and this side had roughly 10 changes to last week so we will experience some indifferent form throughout the year

Sudjai Cook did play out of the middle for Flinders Park, however #6 for Modbury was given the task of running with him throughout the game and i don't think Cook got more than a couple of possessions per quarter.

IN the Cs I heard we were up by a few goals and Flinders came back hard (I think drew level) in the last qtr before the young lads steadied and got the win. Im sure HAWKBOY can give more of a recap.

After last week it was great to see a more settled team and in particular a more settled backline. FP were very good at times and did draw level part way through the last quarter, but we kicked the next 5 to win well. It was a really good performance from both the young lads and our more seasoned players. I was told that FP has Sudjai Cook playing for them, but he was well beaten on the day. The match was great to watch and the skills of the players on both sides was top notch.

We were the oposite Hawkboy we were still calling blokes up on Sat morning to fill our D grade. Taking nothing at all away from you lads you wanted it more and deserved the win but i must say we are in no way happy with our skills that were on display and we had better wake up from this little slumber or the season will pass us by.

morell wrote:North Points (sorry BigShow  ) really impressed me. #19 was an excellent player up front. They are perhaps only behind TTG as the best team I have seen this year. We are yet to see Flinders Park and Henley however.

Still, I think the inaccuracy has a far bit to do with the system of play by North Pines. They love the open spaces out wide and do use the free player on the flanks as opposed to the corridor. They also tend to blaze away rather than look to set up and are great at trying the miraculous. This was the complete opposite of last year when they loved the dinky little kicks in the forward line to find a team mate.

One day it will come off but I lost count the amount of times a North Pines player snapped out of a pack or tried to thread the needle from a pocket when perhaps hands out the back or a centering kick would have resulted in a better opportunity.

Fair comments morrell. It took all we had, on the day, to beat TTG. North Pines to me are as good, hence the reason they beat them. Henley are the team but, so many players I recognise from Div1 and Div2. Reckon they are building big time and my spies tell me they still have a couple of A graders to come back thru Div7. Not sure what is going on with Sammy Fairclough but WTF? Div7, seriously.

Well Fairclough hasn't played in a fair few weeks, and was playing C grade as he was unable to train with the A and B grade while he was working away. Apart from Kelly who in the side from last week has played D1 or D2 footy Yank Man? I think Henley has been underpferforming to be honest and will need to lift if they are to beat your side this week.

Disagree lutz. Henley are the pacesetters. Pitman, Dempsey, Bellingham, Nyland and Ehrich (back from the lost horizon). These boys are serious players. Is there any truth to the rumours Fairclough has offers from otherclubs? Or is work committments an issue. The only game they have dropped was a close one to TTG. If that is underperforming then we should all be scared shi.....less.

Yea TTG beat them at Henley, and TTG aren't traditionally the best travelling side. Were good against Flinders Uni, but with the side they had that day, if they won by any less i would have been surprised. They only just got over Modbury at home with an even better side (I've heard Modubry C grade has been ok this season, but can't be that great as their B grade have been pretty poor). Only beat Smithfield (2nd bottom) by 3 goals. The last two wins have been better, but taking on Mitchell Park, the flag favourites at their home ground will be a massive test, and I'm not sure they can do it atm. But the C grade side changes so much each week anything could happen.
I'm not sure what the go is with Fairclough tbh, I think he might have work commitments.
I don't know anything about Dempsey other than he got 2nd best on the weekend, but Pitman, Nyland, and Ehrlich are all the wrong side of 30, and Bellingham's fitness would be questionable.

At henley the C's are regarded as a div 7 A-Grade so whether its in this side or the div 1 agrade the boys get to represent the football club on the main stage as both teams are duel steam trains seeking to equally conquer the competitions

Therefore its not a 3rds side, its a second franchise lol

Smithfield fielded a relatively strong side that week and will be better in the back 9 once match fitness kicks in for the late-comers and they get a full squad on the park.
I check their team sheet every week and they have had at least half a dozen 1st team starters missing every round so far, they had a stack out for the trans-atlantic clash with SHOC on the weekend and pulled up 5 goals short.
Rome wasn't built in a day but they will cause some upsets throughout the season.

Michell Park are by far the best side we have played for ball movement and delivery. We got spanked by TTG as well, but that was just a really bad game. We just went down to Henley after a horrible start, so if we can put most of our starters on the filed at once we are up there. Injuries in the A's and B's really tell on us, but the core side is strong with a mix of youth and experience and a coach who really gets the best out of his players.

* wrong side of 35
it will be good to see the henley v flinders park match, where sudjai cook can play on pitman - the last time was the '93 sanfl U/17's GF...
Sudjai won the U/17's league medal for norwood and pitty did a number on him as a tagger, and the eagles won

To all who contribute to this forum, thanks very much, it's great to be able to keep abreast of the coming and goings in Div 7. On that topic, heard on the (long) grapevine that Modbury are looking for a new D grade coach? As with most sides that experience that sort of coaching upheaval during the season, I'd suggest a big game in Div 7R will be coming this Saturday. Looking forward to getting back and having a kick and a catch in a few weeks. If you're not playing Modbury, good luck this weekend!

Just read this weeks Footy Budget, and discovered that Flinders Uni used to be in D1!!!
I had assumed they have always been lurking around the lower divisions...

Yep my old man played 1 season for them in the early 70's and they were up there around then.

Rather funny story though that they acquired a Student of the university after the clearance cut off date from the Glenelg 2's or U/19's so they played him under a false name. Problem was though that this bloke was a gun and at the end of the season the boot studder or barman nearly won the medal

Be really interested on you Henley boys thoughts on Angle Vale. They have surprised me because I thought they would be top 2. Their results don't reflect anything like that.
