There are some good players in Div7 mate. Mark Boothy captained Paralowie for years in Div 7 then Div 6. Went to Gepps Cross last season and played all Div 1 games last year and this year so far, starting at HBF. Get your head out of your arse!

Boothy was not U23, he was a seasoned campaigner, and I'd reckon did a pre-season with Gepps before playing in their A grade. The pressure of a D1 game is miles in front of that of a D7 game, so no matter how good someone looks in D7, I don't think they'd be as prepared as a similar player in D1.
As an example, Nic Meiers was U23 when he won the D7 association medal a few years back, he's a good player sure, but has never played in Henley's B grade, let alone the State U23's!

Is it that crazy to think a guy who is U23 playing Div 7 footy could be good enough for the state U23 side? Sumner from woody south in div 5 last year played in the state U23 side if my memory serves me correctly, and if he stayed at woody south this year he would be a Div 6 player.
Personally I hate it when people try to compare players from different Divs. it's just far to speculative and based purely on people's opinions (most times biased)

Nathan Rayner played SANFL last year and is this year at Woody Sth in Div 6 and has been selected in the squad.

Doesnt mean he would be good enough to be selected in a state rep side. May have played all games and not been in best 100 playes in comp

No ones saying that there isn't one player that's capable from div 7 ... But to suggest there are six or seven that would walk into it is a joke. And boothey in my opinion was the best player the lower divisions Ive played against.

Yes, probably a slight overstatement on my behalf Freo HeavHo.  There would be a couple but that might be "some chance" though if given an opportunity. Guess it fired eveyone up but. :D

i would like to say how refreshing it is that a senior player from one club would go to his mates at another to clear the air before a match that was predicted a blood bath by some. This club may have its doubters but they deserve kudos for that. match was played in good spirits, hard but fair. keep on truckin lightning.

With this week being the indigenous round in the AFL, I would like to wish all the indigenous players in Div 7 all the best for tomorrow. Our opponents tomorrow Nth Pines have many of them including Willie Sansbury, Derek Newchurch and Thomas Sumner all of who I have seen, and a host of others who I havn't. Have a good game lads. Looking forward to yet again another challenge.

Very soon Nth Pines are going to kick straight and cause the Div 7 clubs some real headaches. Unfortunately poor kicking at goals keeps the opposition in the game. They have some serious talent with good hands. Thanks for a quality game Bigshow82, pity the umpiring was so disgraceful for both teams. One particular gentleman did all he could to ruin a good contest. Reckon if you go hard at the footy you earn the right to get protection. All it does is anger players and go a long way to seeing things get out of control. I have respect for umps and teach accordingly, but a few would be better off at home in front of the fire.

If they could get a full strength team on the park they would burn but with ageing bodies and people dissapering it's a big if

They don't look ageing "supersonicgun". Chis Stephens is a gun. Their major is lapses in discipline and playing as a team. Willie Sansbury was a no show which was dissappointing, He is good to watch.

It was a very good contest Yank Man. Your guys were just too good when it mattered. Poor goal kicking has let us down nearly every week and is costing us big time. The less said about the umpires the better

Yes we have some ageing bodies but they are not the ones having issues staying on the park. We have not had a full strength team all year and may never be at full strength but thats not the reason why we are losing. Other than round 1 we have been more than competetive in every game and its been more injuries during the game or as Yank Man said our poor goal kicking accuracy letting us down. We will continue to work on what we need to but I have full confidence in the 21 blokes we field each week to do the job. Its a long season but we need to start turning our fortunes around and that has to start this week away against a strong Flinders Park outfit.

North Points (sorry BigShow  ) really impressed me. #19 was an excellent player up front. They are perhaps only behind TTG as the best team I have seen this year. We are yet to see Flinders Park and Henley however.

Still, I think the inaccuracy has a far bit to do with the system of play by North Pines. They love the open spaces out wide and do use the free player on the flanks as opposed to the corridor. They also tend to blaze away rather than look to set up and are great at trying the miraculous. This was the complete opposite of last year when they loved the dinky little kicks in the forward line to find a team mate.

One day it will come off but I lost count the amount of times a North Pines player snapped out of a pack or tried to thread the needle from a pocket when perhaps hands out the back or a centering kick would have resulted in a better opportunity.

Good win by our C grade on the weekend and a good effort by the Ds only to fall a few goals short having no bench in the last half.
IN the Cs I heard we were up by a few goals and Flinders came back hard (I think drew level) in the last qtr before the young lads steadied and got the win. Im sure HAWKBOY can give more of a recap.

After last week it was great to see a more settled team and in particular a more settled backline. FP were very good at times and did draw level part way through the last quarter, but we kicked the next 5 to win well. It was a really good performance from both the young lads and our more seasoned players. I was told that FP has Sudjai Cook playing for them, but he was well beaten on the day. The match was great to watch and the skills of the players on both sides was top notch.
