No Mercy.. get it right please..

There are posts where Turbo and Schimma claim that they have the best 3 players going around in div 2 (and yes! I can pull them out if need be..), and defended themselves by saying they'd go alright when someone said they wouldn't be much chop...but there was no reference to them making themselves a certainty for the flag this year.

I think they're doing ok... very similar season to ours last year..may sneak into finals if their 1 million players come back, but would not call it an unsuccessful season if they finished just out.

C'mon, there was big wraps early in the year from a few on here but i was mainly refering to a show i was at down the Bartley Hotel early this year where i got chatting to a group from SMOSH, players included, they were chanting how they'll take the next step & win the flag in Div 2 following their Div 3 GF win.
I did say its a bigger step from Div 3 you'll find out!

Thats it FC. The div 3 to 2 jump is massive compared to div 4 to 3. If you can come up and be around the mark of finals you can be more than happy and use that base to build for a finals campaign the following year.

Wow, they chanted at you. Well if they were chanting, they obviously meant it.

Not only did they say they'd win the premiership, but they also said tehy were gonna run for Governemtn too right? And marry the queen of England in the process?

We probally won't lsoe a game for the rest of the year we're that good. I reckon I might kick twenty goals this week. Scotch won't even get a kick. maybe a handball if they're lucky.

Modbury have gone about things the right way.. funny how there weren't a lot of people that rated modbury at the beginning of the year.

SHOC seemed to have hit a plateau and need that something special to make the GF. Making finals won't be an issue.

Yeah Agree with all 3 of u on this one, a couple of times ive seen a team win a Div 4 flag then back it up with a Div 3 flag or get close to doing so (Para Hills are looking at it this year). Not so common in Div 2.

Agreed No Mercy alot can change in 3 months or so. Start of the year it was the Almighty Uni's that would conquer all. Modbury had lost all there players and would struggle without Scudds. PNU were looking stronger than ever. Athelstone had recruited big time and would be lead by Flash Gordon (sorry had to throw that in), Hadnt heard a word about PHOS who are looking sharp and yes SMOSH mentioned how strong they would be on more than one occasion. My how times have changed

Their was alot of talk early in the year from all down SMOSH way, talking premierships, gone awfully quiet.

Doubt anyone down at smosh land were talking premierships considering the last time we were there we one 2 games. Season started well but since have lost 8 key players to long injuries.
Klusek, Fraser, Porplycia, Davidson, Jenkinson, Masson all key position players just to name a few. Take 6 six key position players out of any div2 side and see how they travel. Will most likely be back to full strength after the break so expect some better showings.
Hope this answers your question NO MERCY. If we can sneak into the finals i think a few teams would be scared to play us.
Also Forby back playing in the 2's last week. Good to see the old fella running around. Could possibly push for a grade if form suggests. Would be handy in the guts.

Thats it sass, alot can change thoughout a season of footy, injuries, players leaving etc

Athelstone vs Shoc this week should be a cracker, with both teams trying to cement there spot in the top 4. Also Modbury vs Uni should be an interesting game. Are uni's close to full strength??

Have SMOSH been at full strength at all this year??? when we played them they were competative physically applied pressure to half time then didnt have the cattle to get there hands on the footy and use it. Kluzak was the only player who looked dangerous after half time.

Footy Smart SMOSH were at full strength round 1 and 2, which saw us loose to the benchmark in Modbury (they had a couple out) and defeat january favourites Uni's. Since round 3 we have been very depleted, which isn't an excuse, cause other teams go through it too. < EDIT: not necessary, NM is entitled to his opinion as much as the next person>

Not long till the end of the first round. So far Modbury have been the inform team as apposed to a standout team. The game v PHOS was pretty much a frustrating affair if you were a Modbury supporter. I think it is fair to say that Modbury has not yet played four consistent quarters. Take nothing away from all the apponents they have played; every side so far, has had a fair dinkum crack with some sides stretching Modbury to the max.

After the bye and it is the start of the business end of the season. WE will see IMO, a loss or two to Modbury as teams would have done their homework after the first round.
Phil Harrison so far has done a great job; he is not scared to challenge and remonstrate with players irrespective of their profile within the club.

No individual favourites in a team game. Grand finals are not played in June; have Modbury showed all their cards? I don't think so as their is, and always will be room for improvement. UNIS this week and I for one look forward to catching up with the Bratton's.

This will be a great game and I think UNIs will take up the challenge irrespective of their current standing on the ladder. Could this be the danger game for Modbury after all the hype of last weeks top of the ladder clash.?
Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser.

On the budget, I don't know what our U18 boys did wrong to cop a bagging from "Pearcey" every week!

I only saw half of today's game but they are a very good side. I hope they're planning beyond 09 because many a side has earned promotion only to find life in Div1 and a subsequent failure (not that I think Modbury will) has been more of bad legacy than something to write home about. Take Port Districts, from memory they were almost undefeated in 07 any many pundits (Hafey) predicted a solid representation in 08 with a finals appearance and apart from a couple of wins are really only going to be saved by ROCS, Broadview and Seaton's poor showing so far. After seeing today's game I'm actually going to agree for the first time with No-Mercy that the difference between Div 2 and Div1 is infinitely enormous so Modbury would want to be very well prepared. When you think about it the only side to capitalize on promotion in the last 5 or 6 years is ROCS. The rest have had yoyo spells in Div2/Div1 which must drive blokes responsible for recruiting crazy.

That said maybe Modbury should be concerned that the mid-season break might actually give sides time to regroup and catch up in the last half.

The reason I only saw half of that game is had a little look at the 1st half of the SHOC v Athelstone game and if I hadn't heard what I'm about to tell you I wouldn't have believed it. If Jack Juniper hadn't of kicked five goals in the first quarter he certainly kicked 4 and at qtr time I wandered over to hear Stephen Carr address his players and he said something to the tune of "If Juniper isn't off the ground by half time with a broken nose I'll be really pissed off". Carr was as a player a sniper at best who could also play a bit but if the club coach is going to carry on like that it's not a wonder the Athelstone Football Club carry on like a bunch of ferrals as both players and spectators. Had a look at the SAAFL website and Athelstone have had the most up before the tribunal than any other Div1 or Div 2 club.

Keep up the good work Stephen, you're a true inspiration.

Well if that is true thats not what you want to hear from a div2 coach, well the break is here and comes at a good time to rest the bodies
and gear up for the 2nd half of the season and the bussiness end, looking forward to seeing how this Div will finish up
