Saint Michael's Old Scholars Hindmarsh West Lakes Football Club just rolls off the tongue
Would be even better if it was Saint Michael's Old Scholars Hindmarsh CYMS Semaphore Park West Lakes Football Club
Your impressed or jealous?.....

Hindmarsh CYMS FC became Saint Michaels Old Scholars & Hindmarsh FC in 1975
Not sure the exact history if there was a separate Saint Michaels Old Scholars FC that merged or if it was an Unley Mercedes Jets style rebranding.
Hindmarsh CYMS came from the old CYMS association (Catholic Young Men's Society)

Hindmarsh CYMS who are the precursor to SMOSH
Hindmarsh CYMS played their home games at St Michaels College in the 60s (not sure about earlier)
There have been other clubs from Hindmarsh
All Saints Church of England FC that played in the United Churches FA
West Hindmarsh Methodist FC also played in the United Churches FA
Hindmarsh Congregational FC also played in the United Churches FA
Hindmarsh Baptist FC also played in the United Churches FA
Hindmarsh Oval (now Coopers Stadium) was once the home ground of West Torrens

I stand to be corrected on this but I understand there was an Oval near the rail tracks and adjacent to the Clipsal Plant at Bowden. Later on it
became home to a soccer Club..... (Adelaide City...maybe???? ) (Hindmarsh stadium obviously is on the other side of Port Road). Subsequently they moved to play at the St Michaels Junior School then moved on to the Henley area for a couple of seasons before going to Royal Park....

You're pretty well on the mark.......After renaming itself in SMOSH in 1975 and Semaphore Park renaming itself in 1984 to West Lakes FC.....both Clubs merged in 1994 to become as its known today. The merge by and large was that SMOSH had to find a new home and West Lakes was happy improve its stock beyond Divisions 5 and 6. The mixture of "rebranding" and a "merger" has benefited both Clubs looking to the future....

1996 was the first season of the amalgamated SMOSH West Lakes. Commenced in Div 2 (or Premier 2 as it was for I think just the one season?)

Correct that was the start of our run lost to SMOSH in 94 in A3 then Athelstone in 96 in P2 and Goodie Saints in 97 in A1. Good times
