2 good games out at Harpers on Saturday from what I hear. Their D's were too good for us in the early one and probably would have won by more if they'd kicked straight and put us away. C grade game was a good tight contest and PAOC will go OK as usual this year.

One thing I have to say is this 'contact below the knees rule is a load of horse sh1t. If they cant get it right in the AFL they shouldn't bring it in to Div 8 footy because it's just too confusing...

Old body is looking forward to the week off I tells ya......
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

PAOC will be strong in both grades, beat us well in the D grade, only issue was poor kicking in the third really. Hats off to them in the C grade for agreeing to play out he last quarter after our lad went off in the ambulance. They could have called the game at three quarter time, or at least got the forth quarter started but went with a 20 minute last quarter. They were up at three quarter time so the game would have been awarded to the, great respect and rivelry between the two C grade sides and showed good sportsmanship to play on.

I emailed the umpire's coach about this and his response was that he didn't expect club umpires to pay this due to not having the necessary coaching thus unless there's a SAAFL umpire none should get paid.

How would the TTG thing work if they joined now I ponder given there's been two byes?

Apparently this email went out today explaining how it works.

Afternoon all. I’m presuming you are well aware of the difficulties the Tea Tree Gully C grade are facing at the minute being best demonstrated by the magnitude of the losses from their first two matches. In Round 1 they were defeated by Mitchell Park by 47 goals and in Round 2 another 47 goal loss at the hands of Colonel Light Gardens.
Clearly this type of score line is not a good advertisement for The League or is it something we expect the players from the TTGFC who participate purely for enjoyment to endure so we are taking steps to allow for a more competitive match for all.
We accept changing course “mid-stream” is not ideal and it would be easy for some to suggest we could’ve or should’ve taken steps to address this concern earlier. That said, as a league we have tremendous faith in the promotion and relegation system that has served as so well for as long as our existence and regard it as the most objective platform to enable teams to be drawn in their most suited competition. However, we also accept that in the most extreme circumstances and in the best interests of football and The League, we may need to make some irregular decisions as we have now.
In turn we are removing Tea Tree Gully from the Division 6 competition and re-drawn in the Division 8 competition and make the following assertions.

1. Division 6: The competition will now be a 9 team competition with a bye

2. Division 6: The results from the first two rounds will be null and void and recorded as a bye

3. Division 6: Player statistics such as games played and goals kicked are retained by the individual player

4. Division 6: Goals kicked and association Best & Fairest votes will not be included in the final tally

5. Division 8: The competition will now be a 10 team competition

6. Division 8: The 2 teams in the competition who recorded a bye in the first 2 weeks will now be credited with a forfeit.

7. Adjustments are being made to Footyweb and will be completed by C.O.B Wednesday the 17th.

8. Golden Grove Division 8 team will play Tea Tree Gully at Golden Grove on Saturday the 20th of April

Clearly we are hoping you will understand and accept the reasoning we have taken these steps as being in the best interests of The League in general.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

All for the move by the league, throws a life line to a struggling C Grade side.. Div 6 keeps credibility and competitiveness by not having a very easy, easy win..

and teams like GG and Mobdury get to reinstate a rivalry from that stems from junior ranks..

Not so sure it is a great thing for this comp, we played them today and got beaten easily. Wasn't an ideal situation for us, we were ready for the bye as of late Tuesday then this is done and we have a game. We managed to get a side together but had a fair amount of quality out due to plans with the bye and the earlier than normal start. TTG will go very well in this comp, they won Div 7 last season, I did find it humorous how cocky a few of their guys were at the win, I would take it don't get me wrong but I would be embarrassed to have to drop down two grades to get it. I just am of the opinion that if as a club you move up a grade then you stay in that grade, plenty of clubs battle to win games and this to me sets a big precedent. In all honesty, this side could take out Div 8 and go back to back, how many new players will come back when that carrot is dangled in front of them? They wouldn't if they were still in Div 6. Nothing against the players, they go with the hand they are dealt. Its done now and just my opinion on it.

Some good points TEX. Not sure who initiated the move but TTG with the mass exodus of players should of exercised their right not to go up a division especially with Div 6 being majority A grade sides. Will guarantee if they have a few more wins like they did today the termites will be out and they'll be fielding a full 25 each week

Also the two sides who already had byes have now been awarded points as a forfeit, i get that they had to do something but if Districts ad UNI sneak in by a game over any of the other sides it will seem a tad unfair. Districts and UNI both may have beaten them anyway, I cant say haven't seen either yet. I guess for us it was a little hard to swallow only being told four days out that we had a game that we though was to be a bye, then to play the game 4 hours earlier made it all the more harder to get a side on the park. Would have been better if SAAFL gave everyone a weeks notice but then we would have been given points too, so its a tough situation.
