Golden Grove are still the team to beat with Adelaide Uni then Salisbury.
Unley are also cruising along alright so 4th spot is still up for grabs & is no certainty..
Was as it was a ripper of a contest & they come at us all day & nearly stole it but was good to come away with the points at home with a good size crowd watching on.
Hopefully we make the finals & get another crack at your boys as we have had two great games this year so far..
IT'S US AGAINST THEM!!!

Any chance you could do us a favour and put us back into top spot tommorow RL and PR?

Could knock the top side off again one more time yeah? ;)

I know, I know! We played another poor game of footy on the weekend. Small grounds dont help us at all! He have three big forwards and lots of kids that like space to run! Not the reason we lost but Unley ump would be the worst I have seen all year, at one point threatened our skipper that he will call the game off if players didnt stop arguing with him. He then turned his back on the game when he was supposed to be in control and starting arguing with one of our players. I say not the reason we lost because from a young age I have been taught to never blame an umpire for a result but he sure did not help our chances at all. Add to that we also have a poor umpire that usually favours our opposition makes it tough.

We could have done you guys a favour and taken the heat off you by beating Unley! You guys look like you will need to beat Salisbury this week to guarantee a finals spot. % wont play a part you just need to win, they have a bye and finsih with Westminster, then you have the bye with us last round. Trust me when i say that we would have rather won this game, we are in danger of losing 2nd spot now and not playing anywhere near where we did earlier in trhe year.

I can say that the C4 ump for Fitzroy wasnt the best but from speaking with ours after the game he didnt think he was a cheat just was not all that bright! Cant say I know about your ump at WOS because you guys didnt want to come up and have a game ;)

Touche...
Again I reiterate that it wasn't a case of not wanting to have a game.
We are struggling for numbers again this week and may have to pull the pin again (and it's a home game!)

Blatant cheat may have been a bit harsh re Fitzroy ump - I will rephrase that to be very bad and constantly favouring his side

I understand was completely meant as a joke, well and truly over it. It would be a shame for you to not have enough again this week. I am sure there would be a number of annoyed players that are available?

With regards to the umps, I honestly would like to believe that they do a good job considering they volunteer to do this (i know they get paid but lets face it it is not much). The umpp we had on saturday was teh worst i have seen this year and when you only lose by three points decisions they make or dont make really do make a difference. Ill leave it at that.

Dragons, I call things as I see it.
I thought the best umpire we had was from Golden Grove, & perhaps Salisbury (I'll find out this weekend ;) ), as I remember- both let the play go, paid anything that was stupid, & explained their decisions, which were based on good old fashioned common sense.
Good umpires can have bad days, bad umpires can have good ones.

The WOS umpire, when we had her at Fitzroy, was blatantly cheating in the first half, & was only bad in the 2nd (an improvement).
If our umpire was to be accused of anything, it would have been to diminish her power trip...

anyway, it is hard to find umpires, but as a player, I like an umpire to punish us for a real infringement, not punishing us for being "C graders"...

We are really struggling at the minute, we have had some players out but had a pretty good side on saturday. I honestly think the draw is hurting us at the moment, not getting to play many games in a row. The usual older type C grade sides would like this as the older players get a rest, we have only 4 guys over 30 and that is just over 30 then there is a gap down about the rest being 21 and under. They want to play but keep having to have a week off.

There is about 6 or so to come back into the A and B gardes over the next few weeks plus we will get a couple back from injury so it will help us but it aint great form leading in! And we have another bye the week before

Good luck on the weekend PR you guys deserve to sneak in to the finals, the only side all year that has pushed us both times.

I'm not sure what umpire you had last time PR, we have 4 that rotate between our B, C and D Grades. You might have a different bloke this week.

If it was the old fat bloke with a Black/Silver mullet, he is shocking!

Also a little conspracy doing the rounds, Golden Grove as throwing games to finish 3rd? And why are they doing this you may ask? If they finish top two, there is a fair chance they will play 2 gmaes in a month and five weeks, something stupid like that! Now this is not having a god at Golden Grove, but SAAFL, look at yourselves, this comp is a shambles and there is no way questions like this should be being raised! DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN!

HA! Ridiculous comment.

The only difference between 2nd and third is the double chance, if you had been out to watch any of our games lately you would see we need the double chance.

in the last 6 weeks we have played 3 game, with one more this week and then a week off. Trust me when i say that we do not want to lose any of these games. Apart from the WOS game we knew these games were byes at season start. If we were thinking as deep as you about this i would say we would chose to lose on purpose earlier in the season rather than later, not great form going into finals losing dont you think. I dont know why anyone would lose any games of footy on purpose, let alone C4??? :? Just not happening. I also should note that I have still been told and have mentioned this before that the SAAFL wanted to change the draw when the two sides pulled out and it was the clubs who said no, not ours but apparantly the majority.

Does anyone know why the SAAFL website now shows that Golden Grove beat Unley by 4 points and they have given us the points on the ladder as well?? Was their a mistake in the result I am not aware of??

Just stirring the pot mate! I do believe the clubs refused to change, but if you guys were keen, as we were as there were not any/many triple headers this year! The other four must have not been keen!

*Just a side note, pretty poor form from Broadview on the weekend, a club is celebrating 130 years and asks for an early match (still to be played away from its home) so all players can be about the club for the A's and they declined. Wether they couldn't get the numbers in the morning or they were concerned we were dropping C graders back to play them, it was unfortunate!
