Funny thing is his normally one of the first to turn up to training.
Surely the club would consider him as part of the leadership group this year.

The story coming out the General havelock tonight is the Blacks have signed 5 new players in the last week 2 of which have spent time on an AFL list and played SANFL last year. Apparently 4 A grade players from 06 have returned from their O/S sabatical and will pick up where they left off. Time will tell if the big dragon has been woken from it's slumber.

Good old athelstone throw the money around every year to all the wrong players.
Are they going to recruit someone good this year.
It would be a change for once instead of getting players with reputations for being good
in the equivalent of an under 12's league.

If it wasnt for these players, Athelstone wouldnt be in Div 2

All these players were valiable & quality players that the club picked up. I would like to know if anyone actually agrees with you.

Trust me you have'nt hit a nerve mate but when i come on here to read crap that Athelstone spend Heaps & Heaps of money on players it just annoys me. It just goes to show how much you know.
If only you knew what these 7 players were getting paid, you would know they are playing with there mates. They could go elsewhere for big dollars but they all live locally & enjoy having a kick with there mates.
People who winge about other players getting paid money in general are B Grade players or fill in A Grade players.

Coffee. Lazy slow overweight. Found out in quality games and against quality midfields. Well i think there was only one in div3 and it will be alot different in div2. Where will he play for you

Robertson. Globetrotter of the amatuer league. Injury prone. what were they thinking?

Agree sheedy is a quality player but again was no where to be seen in the big matches. finals!!
has no back up and will struggle this year against better opposition.

I have to agree with Always Mobile, I watched the last 2 games that Athelstone played against SMOSH and these so called big name players for Athelstone were no where to be seen. I agree that Robo is a good player, more of an impact player, but he is too much in and out of the game. I couldn't believe that I read that Warner was a payed player, now that is a waste of money. He was carved up by the SMOSH captain, Ralston (who doesn't get paid), and subsequently dragged in both games. In fact, from that premiership side, only two SMOSH players were paid. Brings truth to the saying, "A champion team will always beat a team of champions." Nuf said.

Yeah Fraser has been seen out at SMOSH training, apparently he took quite a bit of offence to being labeled "FAT," on one of the previous posts.

this is news to me - but good news if the case - toss the names out there.
there are some guys out from various colleges but nothing too much that I'm aware off at this stage.
i'm aware that there alesci is back after his acl recon last year.

I thought he played his juniors @ Gaza ???

I played U/9's with Ladhams at Gaza before moving and as far as I know he kept playing there until going to North/Essendon/Adelaide/North

Havnt ppl said that about the Port Adelaide Magpies (Fat, slow & overweight) but still they keep winning flag after flag in the late 80's & early 90's.

Coffee won the clubs best & fairest & will with out doubt play in the midfield next year in Div2.
The size of bodys arent much different except for the skill level. Coffee def has the skill level to match it with the other Div 2 players.

Robertson - Yeah Injury Prone... globe trotter you recon - lol You would think after 2 years you would work out how he plays. he will play on at all cost & still you allow him to run around you & kick a score. Taking 12 months of next year.

Roy Sheedy - His drive of the Half back flank through out the season was umberlievable but his G/F performance wasnt the worst out there. Watch out for him in Div2

Bradley Warner - He has played over 150 sanfl games & knows his body was tiring towards the end of this year. Will stick around the club & probally play B grade with his mate's.

Are you a smosh guy (Jimmykralo) cause even though our big name players didnt perform as well as they should have against smosh in the 2 finals games, they were on fire against walkerville in the second semi final & through out the season. I agree, The smosh boys played a hell of alot better then athelstone but surely you couldnt agree with (Always mobile).

All i have to say is, weather these players were paid or not the club would not be in div 2 for 2008 if it wasnt for these key players.

I take my hat of to PNU for exceeding expectations in Div 2 but lets hope that either Smosh or Raggies dont find themself back in Div 3 in 2009. As i have seen in the past smosh will wanna recruit reasonable well & probally pay for these players otherwise what a wasted year.
Especially if Porplyzia has left the club - Very talented footballer, Disappointing if i have heard correctly that he thinks he is all that or is that Cakebread.
