Game of 2 halfs down at Mawsons today. We started off with a bang and went in at half time with a 3 goal lead looking rather comfortable....enter SHOC in the 3rd quarter who blew us away with a 7 goal to nothing quarter, ended up kicking 11 goals to 2 in the 2nd half. Carroll kept to 1 goal until half time but then some of the delivery he was getting in the 2nd half not even Matty Scarlett could have stopped.

They are a very very good outfit....they have pace, height, skill they're as good a div 7 team I've seen since CLG a few years ago. They are going to take some beating this year.

Great sportsmanship

Wandered up to watch Modbury v Athelstone at Modbury today. Modbury got up in the early game with Athelstone getting up in the late game. Both games played in great spirit. The Raggies C grade look to be a young team with a few old heads. They played well and ran lines for each other eventually outrunning an older Modbury. During the third quarter a Modbury player went down in a fair tackle and lay motionless on the ground. The umps stopped the game as trainers and one Raggies player rushed to his aid - think he was the Raggies ruckman. Later found out the player is a paramedic. He helped stabilize his neck as they put him on a stretcher then as they carried him off he jogged back to the Raggies huddle. WELL DONE MATE.

Hope the Modbury guy is ok. Can someone from Modbury post an update.

The player is ok, he had scans and it was just severe whip lash and no doubt was in a fair bit of shock when he couldn’t feel anything for a few seconds after it happened. Great effort by the raggies bloke to help out and the player himself was very grateful for the help he received by the opposition player and trainers etc. Its my understanding that Athlestone also rang MFC to check on the player which was a great gesture by them.

Tea Tree Gully just got a bit more difficult to beat with Daniel Noske looking to return to the fold from Meningie. I know he is fit and will be a difficult opponent at this level, hopefully with time he goes into their higher grades.

Is that Todd Mackereth the ex Hamley Bridge boy running around with the Spiders this season? How did he end up there?

The biggest weakness for SHOC's would be the movement of players between grades. They were lacking a ruckman over the weekend due to callups. Having said that, the D grade is performing well so they should be able to cover any losses.

Who is going to win this weeks red hot battle between SHOC and Mawson Lakes? Are Angle Vale the sneaky assassins of Div 7? Are there any major injuries or new recruits? Who are the early tips for the association medal?

What's the "B grade" comp like this season?

B Grade comp seems to be one way traffic with SHOC & Mawson Lakes leading the way (SHOCs out in front by a fair margin). Modbury who are sitting in 2nd were absolutely pumped by SHOC's. So unless they have improved it seems like there won't be too much competition

Is Quirke going to be playing E Grade all year?

Cheers! I think Quirke may end up playing the majority of the season in the E Grade, the guy who rucks for the D grade has played the last few years in that team (and performed). So the only way he could possibly get into the team would be as a forward/backup ruckman, however the D grade forward line is functioning fairly well at the moment.

Also noticed Goose (Shannon Vansoest) pulled on the boots on the weekend and kicked 6 goals for TTG. Where did you hear Daniel Noske is heading back to TTG?

Daniel or Ben. I know Ben was at Meningie

Definitely Daniel. Ben is staying at Meningie as far as I know.

I heard it from the man himself! Hopefully his clearance goes through this week in time for Saturday so I can punch him in the back of the head. :D ..

Just jokes! Every knows I would never hurt Daniel-son

Quirke will more than likely be playing D grade this week with our CHB out for the season with a broken ankle and Adam Willson out for a couple as well. Young midfielders Brad Coles and Matthew Nobes will also miss this week with injuries so it will be an interesting contest against Angle Vale in the B Grade comp!

Good to have some SHOC reps on here. They were most impresive on Saturday and its going to take a good team to beat them.

One question i have for the SHOC guys is how do they get all there teams on the track for training!
