Depends what you class as soft i suppose. Most of the sides mentioned above usually are full of younger players, hence they are generally quick and play accordingly. Just because a team is quick and skillful, doesnt mean they are soft.

Stupid stereotype !!!

When a team gets beaten because no one goes in for the hard ball they are soft. Regardless of what style a team plays, sometimes you just have to put your body on the line. A lot of college players aren't prepared to do this. It is a valid stereotype.

hmmm I have seen teams try to go the knuckle against college sides only to find that they have bitten off more than they can chew and they are the ones ending up looking soft....

SPOC B grade is a reasonably dirty team. They like to gang up and throw a few behind play. It's because they are told they are more important than everyone else and think they can bully their way to success.

Mate, college sides didn't get these reps for no reason. Lots of people are just too afraid to say something that is cliched, even if it is true.

SMOSH = St michaels old scholars and hindmarsh..now i dont know how many hindmarsh players are still around and i dont know how may old scholars play for smosh from st michaels..but i would regard them as being district orientated now and they would source players from everywhere i assume so no, not a college side per se, but i may be proven wrong

thats a fair answer
they still gain alot of players from ST michaels
not so much through recruiting but more from the fact the lads want to keep close as friends and all playing at the one club is the best way in doing that
I was a St Micks student and i would say 80% of the blokes i played my footy with at school are now playing at smosh!!
that isnt including the players that are now playing league or at a SANFL club!!!

Stereotypes can never be generalised? That's a bit of an oxymoron.

Logic doesn't say the other teams were softer, just that the skillful nature of the team that won overcame their inadequacies. Why is div 2 basically the ceiling for college teams Zedman? It's because when the going gets tough, the college teams get going the other way.

I think we will beat CBCOC.
Fitzroy to get over pultneny, but not by much.
Portland to beat North Haven.
PAOC and Pooraka will be close, who ever gets off to the better start will win, so i will just ssay Pooraka.
Mitcham to smash Unley and show glimpses of last years performances.

Good luck all,

Pulteney don't play well at the Fitzroy dome and always walk away with a mountain of injurys from that joint. Hopefully the luck changes this year.....

Punky, I see that we are the only two teams to be 1 & 1. Maybe shout you a $2 beer after the game if you are keen to stick around. The coach set a dangerous precedent for home games last week by providing "after match entertainment" hopefully it continues

Judging wether a team is soft because they dont want to fight is bullshit. fighting isnt football and alot of people i have seen that try to fight all the time in football games are scared to put there body on the line and go for a fifty / fifty ball. Also the same sort of people often like to throw the first punch when the player isnt looking, or hit the player when the player has there eye on the ball that isnt tough or hard. when confronted by the player after being hit they go to water.
The way i look at people in footy being hard or soft is in very different categories there are people that hate any contact what so ever. Then there are players that hit the body hard while the player has there eyes on the ball best example being pickett, alot of players like that dont go for the ball but they do hit the body hard, so i wouldnt say they are hard at the ball they are more like being hard at the body.
The players that hit the ball hard at 100 per cent are players i consider hard like michael voss gavin wanganeen jonathan brown. Still though i dunno wether that helps with the whole are college clubs soft arguement and i cant say because i havent seen many college clubs play.

Adelaide Uni are not a college side. They are different altogether and have been able to attract players for reasons that have been discussed on here before. Don't fool yourself into thinking college teams don't throw money around.

I didn't say that the hardest team in each division won. College sides are generally not as hard at the ball as other clubs. They may make up for this in other areas. Don't use the word logic to explain your statements. They are anything but logical.

you clutching at straws now..

so tell me all knowing one..what college teams pay players..you said they do..give me some examples, i dont know any so im interested to know..proove it

so all the teams blackfriars OS defeated in div 7 and 6 were all soft because BOS is a colleg side and they beat them so they must be all softer than a college side..wingfield royals, paralowie, west croydon, golden grove, hectorville etc etc..im sure they will be glad to know that shrek thinks they are all softer than a college side LMAO

You keep repeating the same old crap Zedman. I never said that matches were always won by the team that was hardest at the ball. It is a factor just like skills, structure, fitness etc. Therefore the hardest team does not always win.

I would also have made the point that generally college boys are better at reading comprehension than district players. You have disproven this point.

University is University. College is high school. Adelaide Uni would have about 30 times the population of most colleges and people go there from all walks of life, not just college boys.

Not sure on their current arrangement but two years ago Scotch paid $300 to their best player down to about $100 for their 10th or 12th or something like that. Tamblyn at SPOC is another example of a highly paid player.

Once again, the hardest team does not always win. Please read the previous statement again. Winning div 7 and div 6 does not require toughness. All you have to do is not be fat and have an ounce of coordination.
