Not exactly sure how you justify nothing, but anyway...

...I can feel the love already out at the lodge. Does this mean he'll get to play whatever position he wants? ;)

Is Rhode's going round again ??

I guess our club was fortunate with the situation that presented itself with a coach looking for a job and our coach at the time choosing another position. If you asked the playing group last year if we wanted to keep our current coach we would have said yes..as things had it he left and we ended up with Payne....we were fortunate enough for him to bring some players with him to the club (this isnt unusual as most people would be aware some players build strong friendships with coaches and will follow them). I would imagine if Payne coached at another team they would be having the same discussion over there also.

Personally im glad that he has brought a top group of blokes over with him...apart from clearly having skills they are great to socialize with after training which is just as important in rebuilding a club as having a bunch of blow ins who train and dont hang around to socialize.

I cant speak for everyone at B/L of course but im guessing most people are hoping these guys will hang around for a few years and help build BL into a strong club on the field and a great club to be around off of the field.

azzaisbest - I seem to recall seeing him at training on the odd occasion so he is either keeping himself fit or playing

That all sounds fair enough, but what happens if Payne decides to move on? It's always going to be tough to rebuild a club with only one junior side. That's what I'd be putting all the resources and money into, not on players that will leave as soon as they get a better offer...

Well then we are bottom again and you can all laugh.

The plan at this point is for this to be a rebuilding time for BL.....weather it works or not we will only find out when we are having this discussion in 3 years or so.....if were having the discussion in the div 5 forum and were going well then we might be able to say its worked...if we are having it in the div 7 forum then we could safley say it hasnt worked

Groover was an outstanding junior player with great goal sense, of course he was always going to be offered cash to play in either the BLG or APFL, what young fella wouldn't have jumped at the opportunity, it happens at Smithfield a fair bit as there are a fair few connections between Smithfield and Willaston.

You can't blame the young lads for having a look at a supposed stronger league and getting a bit of coin out of it aswell, there is more chance of getting recognized by league clubs aswell. The kids grow up a bit, join the workforce and realize it is far more convenient to play locally and with some mates, then they return.

Good Luck this year Groover.

The end of the day who gives a rats **** if he is getting paid. Im pretty sure if your club had the oppourtunity to pick up groover for $$$ and he played you would not argue. As long as the paid players are supporting the club off the field aswell as on I do not have an issue. Some people obviously are envious. Who is saying he is getting paid anyway?? All assumptions and even if he was is it really any of your business?? Move on,stupid argument.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

As far as i know the Jr program is going ahead. I think the club has set up a meeting with a couple of local Primary schools about running their JR football sides along with putting fliers in their news letters. I also think this year there isnt a membership fee as such just a small weekly game fee but i could be wrong. If your in the area pop down as they have some flyers up in the club with the details.

The club is trying to make it work but its not easy at times. With the group of people who have taken it onboard im sure they have the skills required to make the JR football program at BL successful.

Signup day is the 22nd February between 11am - 1pm

Sorry mate i looked in the Div 6 and didn't see kenilworth there.

He is a quick little fella! Just wanted to make sure he wasn't feeding me little lies and he did attend training. Will definately become a LOUD character around the bar!

Do you know when the trials are? I wouldn't mind watching him go around.
