Mitchell Pk over Gullies, SHOC over Flinders Pk, Henley over Smithfield and Angle vale with a percentage boost over Flinders Uni. By the results of the first 4 rounds, it seems any team from 2nd to 9th now will be vying for a finals berth. Wins of 5 to 30pts excepting the Uni game bodes well for a tightly fought out season in this division.
NP started well and again Modbury where hampered by inaccuracy in front of goals and a slow start. NP kicked away to a handy 3 goal lead at quarter time, leg speed and their short chip game working well for them. The second quarter was a tight contest with both sides rebounding quickly and testing the defences of both teams. A couple of points in it at half time. The 3rd quarter Modbury peppered the goals but squandered may opportunities. The game seemed in the balance with Modbury gaining the ascendancy and a slim 8 or 9 point lead at 3/4 time. The last quarter tempo increased, Modbury having winners all round the ground. NP mounted an attacked in the middle of the quarter but a quick reply snuffed out any hope of them gaining the points.
Interested to hear from first hand accounts of the other games.

Div 7 has been less of nightmare than any other grade to tip for me so far this season...

Thought it was a scrappy affair, neither team giving an inch. Impressed with TTG's tall defenders, they always do well on our forwards. Surprised to see Ben Noske played deep in defence all day and not in the guts.Yank Man wrote:TTG who play there deck well, are a quality team as I have been saying for some time now. They led MP at every change in a very tough physical encounter, with limited opportunities to find space and both teams turning the ball over thru pressure. With a kick in it at the last change it was MP's belief, hard running and quality that put the game away deep into the final quarter. TTG are the best team we have played so far and we have developed a healthy rivalry with them over the last few years. They will be there at the end I am sure of that. What a luxury at this level to have a ruckman of Clint Dow's quality and a nice bloke with it. Thanks to the Gullies and we will continue our battles in round 2.

Lightning McQueen wrote:Caught the last quarter of the Smithfield vs Henley match, Smithfield were up by 1 point at that stage and it was an entertaining last quarter that could've seen either side win.
Henley were just a bit more polished up forward and a long-sleeved defender single-handedly won them the game IMO with his rebounding and reading of the play.
If Smithfield had of held a couple of marks they should have near the goals it would've been a different story.
They had a couple of late withdrawals and have 3 to 5 good players coming in this week, it will be a very interesting game on the weekend when they take on Angle Vale who had 13 former Smithfieldians playing in their A's on the weekend.
Hopefully emotions don't get the better of supporters and the entertainment is left on the field.

Standout performance from Harro at half back. Was best afield by a fair margin in my eyes. Of all the new recruits perhaps this "old" stager has been the most influential. Would be leading my B&F thus far.

I saw Ben Noske out on Saturday night and seemed to be limping. Looks like he is having trouble with his knees still and may well be the reason why he played in defence and not the midfield.

According to a bloke I spoke to when we played them, their new ground will be good to go Round 10

I don't think so, it will be just another game but with a bit more emotion. There has never really been any ill-feeling between the players from each club, most of those who defected are still mates with a lot of those who stayed.
There's a heap of new faces over the past year and a bit aswell.
