Should be an interesting time at the selection table Thursday night lads.... 4 teams to fill, plenty of numbers about, lots of lads probably playing lower than they expected for a few weeks. Pressure will be on I'm sure and I'm glad my spot is already sealed for the year !!!! ;)

Wasn't there either BB unfortunately. But you'd think the chance to get yourself noticed one last time before selections would have had a few boys jumping out of their skin !!

I Believe Cove one the A Grade by 15 goals
Your half forward kick 3 i think

And Cove one the B Grade by 3 goals in the end
Dont know much about this game.

Hope your boys can fill you in a bit more.

Had a chat to one of the lads late last night. Apparently training was good but some injury clouds are gathering on the horizon. Should make for an interesting night at Harper's Field

Interesting BB... Injuries always open the door for someone to get a chance to shine and show their worth so I'll be an interested observer around the selection table tonight... Are these injuries from the weekends trial games do you know mate ?

My understanding is a few players are not 100% and the selection panel is deliberating whether to take the player in. Jimmy T is ruled out until after Easter but four or so big names are in question.

Is a 70% player X better than a 100% player Y???

100% player Y all the way, our club has enough depth to deal with a couple injuries and not be weakened significantly

It's certainly an interesting scenario..... a 70% Scotty P or Scudds would still be valuable IMO but what is the risk for long term and the whole season and is the risk of harming that long term prospect worth throwing them in for round 1 ??

Scudds is one im not sure is fit for this week. I know he had a tight glute last week and missed.

A couple of the other injuries are bruised heels. Seriously painful but managable. You lose some ability to accelerate and turn and one decent knock will mean the rest of the came in pain. Unlike a soft tissue strain or tear though, it wont render you useless.

The bruised heel is an interesting one because they dont tend to heal (parden the pun...) like most soft tissue injuries because they are always the subject of some sort of pressure during the game.... rest is the key but then your initial discussion comes back into play !! Do you rest for a few weeks or play at 70% ?

Either way, I just the love the tension associated with round 1 !! The first one I wont be involved in as a player for a very long time so a sad day for me in some respects... But a great one for the club !!

I played with a bruised heel for alot of last year and it was very frustrating. The only way i got over it was to miss a week. I think i had a cold/flu and pulled out the morning of the game. Didnt have any heel problems for the rest of the year though. If one of the players subject to this injury pulls up i think the heat of the filed will be like and "inferno" come saturday arvo.

Great set up in terms of club and facilities. Very Very talented side as well. Guido is very stiff not to be in the magoos for the bays at the moment. We played Modbury the week before and performed well but Cove really were at another level. Id expect them to fall between 4 and 6 in div 1
