Rumour has it Smosh are really struggling with injuries at the moment.
Two key defenders have broken foots, Porplyzia has a torn hamstring has already missed 3 games and will probably miss more with a few other blokes unavailable due to injury really testing the depths of the footy club. After a positive start in div2 looks like smosh might be really struggling to hold themselves together coming up a grade.
Can anyone add anything or confirm my sources are passing on correct information.

While every clubs goal at the start of every season is to win a premiership, you really need to be realistic when making the jump from div 3 to div 2, its just a whole other ball game.

Our goal last year was to have a solid year and after a slow start (losing the first 3) we went from strength to strength and were very unlucky to miss out on finals (percentage)

This year, on the other hand..well :(

Every club has injuries, you can't write SMOSH off completely,I see signs of SMOSH this year as being the same as us last year, and they may just miss out on finals if the injury list doesnt get smaller. If that does happen, they shouldn't scoff and think theyve wasted a season, they should what they've learnt this year and build on that next season.

Isn't funny how you apply a particular train of thought to one club but find it unacceptable for your own.. :?

Agreed FC it is a much bigger step from div 3 to div 2 rather than 4 to 3. Injuries never help we(modbury) experienced it last year coming into finals and it really exposed the lack of depth.(this will set no mercy off)

Smosh just need to do be competative and mabye jag a game here or there so they stay mid table. Then you never know its still very early in the season and whats to say other teams dont get the same amount of injuries at the wrong end of the season.

Yes we may have injuries, but I would have thoguht a 51 point win agaisnt uni auggest that we'll be more then competitive?

If forby starts playing again, then you'll know we're in trouble.

Lukey didn't tear his hammy, just strained it. He's named this week. Not sure if he'll play though.

Interesting stat for you SMOSh fans from Modbury. And other clubs:

The last game we lost at home was in 2006.

12 or 13 straight I think.

Here's hoping it doesn't bloody hail!

Some really good games this week Uni V Scotch should be a carcker Scotch are very good on there home ground they play the ground very well
Modbury V Payneham shoud be a good game Macca will have them fired up for the challenged. I'm sure he will have something in line for Vassal 'and always has his players target Jolly, first time these sides clash since the jolly (eye socket) incident so should be some feeling
and hardness around the ball lookin forward to watching that!!!!

Nice to see its all about M. Jolly  Mate, Jolly is definitely not "all that" this year, he 'll be the least of our worries. You can tell the precious one he doesn't have to worry about the big mean monster who hit him. To my knowledge he isn't playing this week due to work committments.

Footy Lover, what exactly do you mean by "targeting"? Macca doesn't tell anyone to "target" anybody. You're making his eye sound like the biggest conspiracy since friggin Watergate.

Injuries happen, unfortunate part of life..let it go

N. Jolly on the other hand, is one to watch. Hard to believe the leagues leading goalkicker comes from a winless team. A blockbuster match up between him and little Scudds if this in fact occurs - and both are only 17 &18 years of age. Hows THAT for real talent.

Little Scudds has a good head on his shoulders, at under 18's training he oozes leadership qualities and we were having a little chat about this weeks game and he said that he doesn't under-estimate ANY team. If you can keep him, he will be a great leader for the Modbury Football Club one day.

Agreed FC very good player good denfence and then just as good when he runs off, jolly has been quiet this year but thats the quality of Modbury this year we are not relying on matt to kick 5 goals or have 30 touches. Injuries do happen i understand that but a punch to the eye socket FC is not a accident i seen the accident and this was "no intention" HAHA YEAH RIGHT!!! How appropriate that he has to work. anyway modbury will be there for one reason and that the points

So you think that Seibs went onto the field that day with the sole intent on breaking Matt Jollys eye socket..  Was Matt Jollys sole intent that night to grab Seibs balls? Sure, becuase Jolly can't keep his trap shut, there may have been an intent to give him a tickle for his troubles, but we're not snipers.

As a club that has been on the end of a string of "non accidental" incidents behind play, we pride ourselves on not being snipers.

It's must be good for the club (and Matt) for him to sit back and take a different role this year. I think we're relying on our Jolly just a little too much, and while he's a dead eye dick, we're forgetting about our other very capable forwards like Billy Kollias.

Interestingly, the weather will be exactly the same as it was at our last meeting, execpt this time you guys have the luxury of a nice dry changeroom, that doesn't leak

Vassal and Macca go back a bit as old mates at Norwood and i highly doubt they will target him (not in a violent way anyway). Jolly can hold his own and everyone has moved on since that incident including him. When throwing the odd punch u never have intention to do serious damage and lets be honest to get someone fair square in the eye socket during a night game in the wet has an essence of luck to it  . Its something that just happened and unluckily for us close to finals time. A punch can hurt but a ten goal hammering can be alot more painful. Lets hope thats what the Modbury boys do.

Agreed FC the battle with Sammy Scudds and Nick Jolly will be a beauty. Just a shame that delivery wont be as good due to the wet conditions.

or unluck, depending which end you're on

Jamie and OD tried to lure me out there this year, which I was somewhat tempted to do becuase Ive always wanted to work with Colin but I politely declined due to the fact that I REFUSE to work in those conditions. Those rooms need to be condemned.

Sass, thats not pool facilites luv, pools don't smell like musty swamps :vom:
