Speaking to a bloke associated with the coach, said that Charlie Wintle has been or was thinkin of making a few phone calls around the traps to 'encourage' former players back to the club who are playing in higher divisions for next year. If so then he is taking a big step forward for the club. I know i mentioned the amount of quality players that used to play for the club earlier in the year, was just wondering if you guys had heard who he is after if its true???? If it is the case, how are they going to be 'enticed' seeing as though most would be on some form of payment. If you guys could pinch a Grand Final birth it would probably go a long way to helping. Thoughts???

I'm not sure what Charlie may or may not be up to. But if he is, then I'll get behind him 100%. It's probably 5 years overdue that our club started to try and get a few blokes back and if anyone can do it, a bloke with charlie's good reputation can! Sneaking into Div 5 would certainly help, but isn't critical. The future is certainly looking bright 8) at the valley, regardless of who we may or may not be getting...

its a great idea but i just wonder where the demons are gonna get the cash to support this step forward - i dont think theres any current players getting paid is there? maybe winner the GF and getting some bigger sponsers on board could help a long way- maybe you could answer that bartman or whoevers from the valleys ?

I wouldn't rely on Bartman to answer with anything constructive Silent- he's normally going on about boner's etc...

I've been at the club for about 10 years or so now, and I don't think we have been in a better position since I have been there - just with the direction we appear to be heading in, and the sponsors that are coming on board, I think we will improve quite a bit over the next couple of years. Charlie has been a very important asset to our club, and am aware that he is trying to attract old players back to HV, so hopefully he is successful in doing so - as you said a GF spot would certainly help that, but just the improvement from last year to this year should help. The club is buzzing a the moment with a good mix of younger and experienced players, who seem to be really enjoying playing there - which I think Charlie and our committee have facilitated as well. Is certainly a great club to be involved with....and the footy trips are sensational!!

Bring on Heccies this week!!

He coached at Gepps B grade last year - not sure where he has coached before that. He has a very good relationship with all the players - is very professional, and knows his stuff. Think HVFC has made a good selection with Charlie, and I certainly hope to see him with us for a few more years.

Charlie came across from Gepps Cross. He coached their B's the last few years. Originally from Broadview. He has done a great job to date and has already been appointed for next year which is a very positive move forward for our club. If you want to know what he looks like check out Jim from the Jims Mowing ads on tv. He is a splitting image!

P.S. BONER.

Moving in to div 5 would sure bring some old talent back for the valleys - and maybe give them some extra lift to the players and supporters that the club is moving forward - not saying it hasnt already.
best of luck to them anyway

Yeah you would think so....he has retired about 4 times, but then keeps coming back. He hasn't played too many games this year, cause he keeps disappearing overseas, but when he does play he is still really good - is a very fit bloke still though.

Not only is it a mini ginga - it's one of best - Danny Bonnaducci! Danny Partridge himself.
