Maybe it's the age profile of many of the parents who are in the 35 to 45 age bracket that makes them more volatile particularly if alcohol is involved. The same types that think a holiday commences at the Coopers Bar at the airport and that it's a rite of passage to get on the grog from 10am before jumping on the Jetstar to Bali or Cairns and risk making a pig of yourself.

MoP wrote:@DTH I went to Glenelg Oval today to watch the U16 Girls Div 1 GF. Henley beat Glenunga 13.9 to 0.1. I'm not sure this is the sort of score anyone wants to see in any game, let alone a GF.
For background, this Henley team beat Glenunga by about 10 goals in last year's GF. Clearly the best team in the comp, no question. But, this season, Henley had a team in Div 1 and their second team in Div 3 (or 4). Glenunga were forced to have 2 teams in the Div 1 comp. Not only that, they were then forced to allocate their better players amongst both teams. So, the best Club in last year's comp could pick their best 25 players in Div 1. The second best Club had to split their best players across 2 teams.
I can't see how this is in the best interests of anyone. The Henley girls don't learn anything and the Glenunga girls lose interest in football.
You keep patting Henley on the back for how well they run the Junior competition, though.

Who forced them to split their best players? I see one team finished 2nd and the other finished bottom.
Henley B's finished bottom of div 3, I don't know what else to expect them to do.
Just a few things that come to mind, and I'm no fan of Henley juniors at all, I was appalled at a few of their supporters when I was watching a girls game one night.

Leveraging their access to SANFL grounds to host a full day of Grand Finals with excellent facilities for players and spectators is fantastic. Fathers Day prevented me getting to the Bay yesterday to see 2 wins and 1 loss for Brighton teams but I did get there last year and they are a great day.

They had 2 teams in Div 1 'cos that's what SANFL Juniors said they had to have, despite saying in the off season that NO club would have 2 teams in the same division. Then, after putting both Glenunga teams in Div 1, it was another direction from the SANFL Juniors that the teams had to be split. Personally, I think the Club should have picked an 'A' squad and a 'B' squad and just waited for the B's to be re-graded.
Team 2 may have made the GF of Div 2 last season, I can't actually remember.

You do realise they all play underage for Blackwood in the Hills league, don't you? Can't be registered in two leagues at once, hence the permit.

Spot on, Im not sure what else the permits would be for, unless he is implying that 9 were over age permits, I can guarantee none were if you are referring to the U17.5's. None of them are on SANFL lists either.

I’ve heard there were a lot of team changes from the initial gradings which has impacted the draft fixturing.. add in Gather Rd last week has not helped.

Would've been all hands on deck (SANFL Jnrs staff) across the week with the clinics, game day experiences etc.. would've been no one in the office at least back half of the week which would've out a stop to the admin stuff.

There ya go.. and doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Downside is obviously they're frantically playing catch up so season can start next week without any issues.
