He also said he would've picked Laidler over Bootsma for Carlton on Thursday night.

Possible match-winning decision.

Expecting big things.

Gotta love round 1 selection night, MFC had close to 60 training in the C&D group.... never seen numbers like that and the attitude of this squad this pre season has been great, they have trained seperately to the As and Bs and had over 30 to all trainings since before chirstmas! Good signs after a few tough years in Div 7.

Lol, you gotta love the Thursday before round one hey, sounds like us last night.

During our warm up I counted 78 and then a bit later on I saw at least another 5 blokes that got there a little late so we might of probably had a max of 84-85 at training. We split up after the warm up, A grade and half of the B grade squad of about 25-30 and the rest of B's plus the C's and D's where they probably had a group close to 50-55. Don't think I've seen that many blokes on the track before at NH.

Looking forward to official kick off tomorrow. We have Brahma Lodge so not really sure what to expect from their C/D grade as have never played against their lower grades. GG had about 60 blokes in the mix for C/D grade for Round 1 but with a few out from the higher grades and unavailability that slowly got dwindled away. 5 on bench for C and 3 on the bench for D grade we are fairly happy with that for Round 1.

But we all know that can quickly change once injuries etc...start happening in the higher grades.

Good Luck to all teams involved.........except for Brahma Lodge ;)

I know it's different with the amount of sides we have, but on Thursday evening Uni lower grades (6Reserves and below) had 116 players training at Park 10. Even splitting into several smaller groups and rotating through longer and smaller exercises didn't really help the chaos.

Both our C's and D's suffered big losses at the hands of Modbury today, didn't sound good. A few boys claimed that Modbury and A and B graders have a run today in their C's and D's, is that correct? I thought Modbury might have had a trial game today before round 1 in Div 2 next week?

If they did they won't be playing next week

As per the new rules
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Not the case at all, Modbury still had 16 unavailable from the two teams that took the field today. The C's and D's are a tight knit group this year, playing for their mates then the club. A few old heads have returned after a few years in football wilderness (Modbury scoreboard hill) bringing a much needed boost to the coaching depth at this level, which was evident today in the way both teams applied themselves on the field. Today's result was directly attributable to the manner in which they were coached and certainly not by front loading from higher grades!

Cheers Modnog, just want to hear the otherside of the story, I for one did not think this would be the case and thought it didn't sound right.

That's exactly what I thought, in all honesty I think a few boys were trying to sugarcoat the C's and D's defeats, they obviously well beaten by stronger outfits.

yep, great signs and great reward for the Modbury C & D grade sides.. i also know that there will be 4 or 5 quality players being pushed down from the B grade this week heading into round 1. . huge step in the right direction for the lads after some tough years.

Fantastic to see ex coaches helping out as the runner, past players who have been missing from the club helping out with coaching and a real team focus from both grades. Still 15 plus players to come back in when fit/ready and this gives us hope for a really good season.

bit like your As Hefty? ;)

 Not at all mate, once again depth will be tested with injury and work commitments as the season goes on.

But from our point of view it is great to see the players/coaches/support staff that have endured some tough years and pastings playing the likes of Mitchell Park, Glenunga and Mawson Lakes in Divvy 7 get rewards for their effort, camaraderie and commitment to the club.

Where is the rule listed?
I have a mate who's saying no such rule exists and I want to prove him wrong.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
