Double dipping as you call it is not gold mine you think. In this instance SMOSH/WL is a only a tenant at West Lakes Oval operating from the 1st April to 30th September. Henley & Grange have the other six months and the facility is run by the West Lakes Sports and Social Club. As such generating significant income for the FC has limitations because they do not have the autonmy to make independent decisions regarding the Clubs finances unlike others.
What it does effectively is promote community involvement and an environment in which youngsters can learn to play the game. It is not a guarantee that these "juniors" will stay on or automatically play Club Seniors. The fact the Club was borne in part from Old Scholars, being aligned is hardly a "funnel" for attracting players to a Club such as SMOSH W/L. The "big" talents at this level often try out in the SANFL, with sides like Henley and Flinders Park being in closer proximity benefiting just as much if not more chasing young talent. It is very unlikely SMWL will ever max out on points by "buying" up players as they don't have the capacity to generate that kind of income, to compete in the "meat market" unlike many of their contempories. I appreciate not everyone is able to do run a juniors programme whatever their stated reasons, along with those who simply don't want to. But to be competitive at all levels Clubs make do best with resources that are available rather than cry 'foul' because they can't have their cake and eat it as well.
Whilst APPS is not perfect and you might not like it Beefy ......... compared to policing salary cap violations, and "brown bag" deals.....it's streets ahead.

Um, I said I was for it and that was 8 months ago. And regardless of how you dress it up, you still have 2 pools of 0 points players which contributes to you not maxing out on points.
