Who was the sauce?
Lots of considerations need to be made when choosing a head coach. Im sure some players would have been consulted as Im sure that would have only been a small contributing factor amongst many things that woud have been considered. After last seasons fall from grace, we need to improve things off the field as much as we need to improve on the field. Im confident we have some good people in place for that to happen. Mark did some great things the club in his short time there. No real laundry or bad blood at all.

GG have Ashley Mitchell back coaching which will hopefully settle us down a bit. I believe pre-season starts for us around the end of November and there's no new recruits that I have heard of yet except one BIG rumour of a player returning that I have heard that has yet to be confirmed...

I guess it has part truth. First thing you want to do when you get relegated is try to get some stability and enthusiasm back into the club and try to keep your better players from being lured away by the dollar and gauge some sort of feedback and opinion from them. But they don't make the decision obviously, that's what a committee are there to do. Mitch has a good reputation at the club, has delivered results previously and is a club coach rather than just an A grade coach like Mark was. And we saw the need to add stability and get the group back into a tight knit group again and Mitch can help us do that.

reading between all the lines, its another case of players having to much say in what is and what wont happen
clubs need to get it right,i agree
but committees select coaches coach
and players should play
previous coach has taken a bit of a hit by this wether it was meant or not

Don't read between the lines because you'll get it wrong, and you have.
Players definitly didn't have too much to say but when you have a group of players who have made the journey from under 8's to A grade footy together their interests are something that needs consideration. Our club is far different to yours dee man.
Previous coach hasn't taken a hit at all. I caught up with him over the weekend and he is well, accepted what happened to both the club and to him and taken it on the chin, wishes us all well and will move on. As will we.

No point beating about the bush. People aren't stupid so I'm not going to get on here and tell lies. It's what has happened, we dealt with it by returning to something that has been successful in the past, something familiar and someone who does generate positivity around our club. Now whether we can recover is another thing, but if we don't try we risk losing some great talent (as we did at the end of season 2009) to other clubs and going even further backwards.
Look, Mark Weaver did some good things at our club and has hopefully developed some thicker skins amongst a group who haven't tasted alot of defeat over their young football lives. But in the end an inability to communicate effectively with the group saw a need for change. Not just him though. We have new C, D and under 18 coaches as well so the refresh will hopefully get us started in the right direction.

Good to see going up a division can attract some players, all mates of players from the club. Another Quality ruckman, on-baller from the NT top league and a fullback, all apparently very good finds. Also a few players returning to the club after a season or two playing in the country. Looking forward to checking them out on the track in the next couple of weeks... Go Doggies!

i believe 2011, 5 points used ,those 2 players now = 3

2012 add on 9 still leaves 3 as i dont think you add on juniors coming back to the club

Not sure about that mate, i think with him working away and only seeing his family every couple of weeks he may be spending all his time at home with them. In saying that he would be more than handy if he did want to have a kick, he could definatly teach the young kids a thing or two.

Correct and Ratsy coming back from a year in the country, and one of the guys hasn't played for a few years, that would surely reduce his points?
