Are College Teams Soft?

How does anyone come up with the idea that College teams are soft. It is purely a myth. For god sake, just because their parents had some money and sent them for a private education does not mean the player is soft. The whole arguement is purely based on that assumption that a Private Education = Soft. Have played with and against some wonderful College players and none of them are soft. Certainly the theory that Adelaide University is soft, is the biggest lot of crap I have ever heard. They are as hard at the ball as anyone. Your idea of soft is questionable. Hardness is going for the football and not forging a reputation as a club that snipes, king hits, belts people when not looking and just plain digusting people. Those people and clubs are not hard or tough. Indeed some of those clubs are soft as butter because when they are put to the test and made to go for a hard ball, they pull out and try to belt someone. Toughness is about putting your head over the ball not being a thug

My opinion for what its worth is that college sides arnt "soft" as such they play a different style of game. They play a running skilful game and the best way to beat them if not at their own game is by playuing tough footy not allowing them to get space to run and carry. Ive played many games against college sides in the last few years and some of the toughest have been against Pembroke and SHOC.

When it comes down to it when your playing footy and its your turnt o put ya head over the ball you must otherwise you have a seat on the pine.

Its no secret how they play 2 handballs around the back then either run or kick.... pressure them physically and they cant play their game
