Whats the go with Tony Francis being reported from the weekend? Did he play? Should be an interesting battle between PHOSC and Gepps, would have to have Gepps as favourites. Good to see Weinmann back in the line up after having a knee recon earlier in the season, will give the Phantoms some hardness around the contest

While we are running with rumours, strap yourself in for this one. Apparently during the season Broadview played an unregistered player in a game against Port Districts where Broadview ran out victors. As the season has panned out we know that Port Districts and Seaton Ramblers are returning to Division 2 next season. Maybe not. SAAFL has been playing hard ball all year on this issue and is likely to strip Broadview of the points and award Port Districts the win which means they would stay in Division 1 and Edwardstown would be relegated! Watch this space for the latest developments.

on another point with the SAAFL and the tribunal, is it weird and inconsistant that Kym Koster gets 3 matches as a coach (he wasn't playing) for abusing an umpire, and Francis gets a reprimand? Was there any mitigating circumstances?

Francis didn't swear at or threaten the umpire, and the other umpire standing next to him didn't hear it, so it wasn't particularly vitriolic. I think the umpire might have got a bit of a bake from the tribunal.

well he was found guilty of 'threatening an umpire' and by the preceedence set by the league this year, should have got games.

I would think if you tried to read what the tribunal was doing you would go mad. They must have found it to be low end of the scale and knowing the league they probably didn't change the charge from threatening to disputing. He didn't actually threaten anyone so who knows.

'threatening an umpire' are strong words and highly irrelevant in this case. Now that lad that tried to run over an umpire last year would be closer.

yeh fair enough. Just seems strange that if you are found guilty of what the saafl have said they are going to take a zero tolerance on and just get a reprimand then it raises some questions. Why just find him not guilty? That is what is inconsistant about it. But anyway, good luck to PHOS this week.
