Luke Thompson a fairly decent pick up for Flinders Park.

Athelstone looking very very good at this early stage.
I can’t confirm player losses, but there are some handy ins so far (Cluse and Stewart returning makes Modbury’s job a lot harder now too).
They’ve got a lot of depth now, and their coach has them up & about.

Big get! What's going on at PHOS, last year and now this year they've lost a heap of players.

Yes for the last 3 years, plus multiple best and fairests and 2 times Div 2 medallist. Massive for the Saints and a big loss for Phos.

Out of curiosity, how does it work with the APPS with Adelaide uni? I’m assuming there’s no connection with anything juniors related that allows them to get in 0 pointers (unless they are players what would qualify as 0 points for every other team)?

I believe if the kid is an Adelaide Uni student they are 0 points.

If we are talking advantages this one is huge, except it doesn't work for Flinders, so it's more than just the points situation, the club means something.

8.4. A player who is required to change their usual place of residence to attend a Tertiary Educational Institution and is enrolled as a full-time student will receive a rating of one (1) point if they registered to play with an Affiliated League Club that has a direct affiliation with that Tertiary Educational Institution.

This is the only consideration in the rules for a tertiary club. So it only seems to provide for the country or interstate lad who moves to Adelaide to commence study at Adelaide Uni. But some of these lads would be 0 pointers if they came straight out of a country junior team or a local junior team if they were a school boarder prior to starting Uni. I assume that would override the 1 point rule. But this is the problem with the APPS rules. They can be a bit contradictory in parts.

Should be a blanket rule that any country based player 18 years or younger moves to the city for work or study who is a points player, gets a reduction to 1 point.

The merger with Uni SA potentially a boon on that point for Adelaide Uni. Suddenly open yourself up to all the teaching/physio students

It's nice that this rule only benefits Adelaide Uni (soon to be UniSA/Adelaide Uni combined) and Flinders Uni

Every other club that picks up a kid moving to Adelaide for uni gets a player who is 3 points as most of them played A grade back home

You can have as many 0 pointers as you like but if you can't match the salaries from other clubs what difference does it make? If it was such a big advantage why are Uni down in div 2 and cant get back to div 1?
