Extraordinary year across the div

Probably easier to pick the top 2 than the 2 to be relegated

Smacks of a year where one game might be the difference between hosting a home elimination final and being relegated.

The only thing that is certain is that when we turn at the half way point in 2 games and 3 weeks time with the bye is that; Glenunga will be top.

Apart from that;
Any of the Top 7 could be in the top 5
Anyone from 5th through to 10th could be in the relegation zone

7 wins seems to be the safe number. Without checking the record books IIRC 7 wins got SHOC into the Div 2 Finals in 2014 and 16 points up at 3/4 time of the GF before sanity prevailed. :D
7 wins wasn't enough for the ROCS to avoid dive 1 relegation about 15 years ago
I also seem to recall a round 18 game with PHOS on 7 wins and a win was a finals spot and a loss was relegation.

Div 1 certainly offering plenty and every game matters. Glad we stopped doing the tipping as i only got 1 last week

I reckon Glenunga v SHOC

The three bottom sides all won against teams above them
Would have been frustrating for SPOC and Brighton thinking they had jagged a game back

That's always the tough scenario from this time of year onwards. Lower teams beating teams around the finals mix keeps more clubs in touch with a finals berth but also keeps more clubs floating around the relegation spots. The main issue for SPOC and Brighton is the lack of depth below the A grade compared to the other clubs. But both still have enough top end talent as Saturday's results showed.

I'm not sure what to make of Bronze Grove - their top players are very good
They were 3 goals up at least twice (1st and 3rd Quarters) only for PAOC to get back into the game.
PAOC hit the lead for the first time in the 3rd Quarter and ran out the last quarter to win by 4 - we were ~5 goals in the middle of quarter

Will be a different game up in nirvana

Brighton get a draw against Pt District away from home is a huge result for them even though its only a point

Home for their next game against Broadview which is a huge game for both clubs

Reckon there is only now the top 6 in line for a finals birth, bottom 4 currently are going to battle it out for to stay in Div 1

I wouldn't write anyone off just yet. SPOC (bottom) have only really been touched up by TTG this season. All their other losses have been reasonably close. They even led Glenunga at half time yesterday. Golden Grove (9th) have lost 4 games by less than 10 points, including to the Top 2 teams. I'd suggest their record will be better in the back half. And, I'm still waiting for Wristy's smokey, Broadies, to hit their straps.

Haha so am i Moppy. :D I'm still a believer but i may have got that one wrong. With the comp being so close though they are only a game out the 5 but the % is starting to become an issue. Simply must beat BDOS next start or i will jump right off.

There a lot of very good teams trying to squeeze into that 5.

Still can't believe from last year, that GG would be in the relegation zone at the half way point of Div 1 this season. Shows how big the gap is from Div 2 to Div 1.

Lost a couple they should've won and had a bad year with injuries. Think they'll stay up

Brighton and Dizzies also draw in the womens.

I'm trying to find out if there's been any other instances of 2 draws in the same round by the same clubs

It might be a first in our league.

Spoke to one of the Div 1 Coaches this week and he said he thought Grove were as good as any team they played so far this year.

Like my golf game you’d expect improvement on the back 9. Will need to win at least 7 of their last 10 to play finals though. Tough ask when there are no easy games in 2024

Would think avoiding relegation would be priority #1 before considering finals.

Div 1 really heating up after todays results

Glenunga and SHOC miles ahead of everyone else

Port District in 3rd position with 9 points, Brighton in 10th position with 5 points, 4th to 7th position with 8 points 8th and 9th with 6 points

apart from the top 2 anyone of the other sides in the loop are in with the chance of making the finals or being relegated

2nd half of the season promises alot
