The matter has gone higher so members have been advised to remain tight-lipped and let the authorities sort it out.

To Angle Vale, there was a rift between the treasurer and the junior committee.

Each team manager used to collect money per week, this rate varied from team to team as some teams went on end of season camps where others would do things locally.
The Sports & Social Club treasurer insisted all money to get paid into the club and receipted, then dispersed at the end of the season accordingly. The team managers refused to do this and the junior committee supported them which resulted in a shit fight and the junior committee jumping ship and taking a substantial amount of kids with them, they never recovered. It was a lose/lose situation.

Didn't something like this happen in the Early 90's with the now defunct Blakeview football club, enough players leaving Smithfield to be able to form two teams?

I grew up playing for and then against Smithfield in the old CDFA/NMFL and they were always more than competitive outfit, They unfortunately have stigma attached to them now, but with Blakeview grove popping up out there surely there is a whole generation of kids that want play footy that need a home, hopefully they can pull themselves out of this mess with a good and decent football culture.
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

They always will have a stigma attached to them merely based on their demographic and peoples perception of the suburb of Smithfield. The football club would be better of changing their name to Andrews Farm or Blakeview or something.

A noble thought PG....but unless the leopard or in the case the panther...changes it spots so to speak, a name change would be purely academic.

You don't think the way they are treated or perceived by rival clubs, members and leagues or their ability to recruit quality players and support is anyway affected by the "Smithfield" name?

Maybe just purely academic, but a step towards changing an overall culture and image of the club to the wider community.

He doesn't sound like a footy supporter, does he?
Politicians kissing babies for good luck,
TV preachers sell salvation for a buck.
You don't need no golden cross to tell you wrong from right,

I tell them to shut up so I can do the talking.

Do people agree with the decision? I can understand why the league would do this as a deterrent to others and to prevent this club doing anything again, but punishing a bunch of people who haven't done anything wrong seems very harsh to me.
