Fundraising..

Postby S Demon » Wed Nov 23, 2011 11:57 am

Was just after some thoughts/ideas from other footy clubs on what has worked in the past as far as fundraising goes. We all know about the meat tray, lucky square, raffles, etc..

..but what are some different ideas that have worked for your club and have been an "easy sell" rather than a "hard slog" to raise funds?

X-Lotto is one of our cricket fundraisers:
At the start of the year sell all 45 numbers, it costs the participant $5 per week to play - they must play all designated weeks. If your number comes out first you get $50, second to sixth $20, sups $10 each.
Outlay for prizes = $170 per week, Income = $225 per week, profit = $55 x 25 weeks $1375
Its pretty easy as you don't have to collect money each week, people can give you $20 and pay off 4 weeks here or there, or if they actually win a prize you just cross off the weeks that it pays for.

Chase the Ace used to generate a fair bit of coin, you need to set it up in front of a lot of people and have the trust of all participants though. It ends up being big biccies.

i was always a fan of the lucky squares ..... done the same as any other raffle . Say you have 20 squares .... sell them for 5 bucks each so the club pockets $100 and the winner gets a drink bought for him from the other 19 people that bought tickets but didnt win. The trick is to hit up the blokes that dont hang around long usually after presos otherwise ya miss out !!!!! Cheap messy night out if ya lucky enough to be the winner

Contact the community credit union, they run a raffle each year. If selected your club can sell the tickets and you get 100% of the proceeds. Very simply sell 1000 tickets at $2 each and your club gets $2000. Have a life member buy a ticket on the clubs behalf and win a prize even better although slightly less reliable.

I will give you 3 words. "Last man standing"

This has worked at previous clubs I have been involved with. Basically there are 100 tickets (you can have more if you like)
Tickets are $100.00 each. So 100 tickets x $100 = $10,000
Once all tickets have been sold, you hold a day at your club where all 100 ticket holders come. Generally around a 2-3 hour event. The club will need to use some of the money raised to put on beer and food for the 100 ticket holders.
The way it works is all the tickets are placed into a barrell (or hat or whatever you have) and the tickets are drawn one at a time. If your ticket is drawn you are eliminated. The last ticket remaining is crowned the last man standing and receives
$5000 cash.

So the tickets sold raises $10,000 less $5000 for first prize and less say $1000 for food and beer for a couple of hours.
So the club raises $4000. The best thing about this fund raiser is you can sell the tickets to anyone, it doesn't have to be a regular club member who is hounded every night for a lucky square etc.

I think you will find most of us on here would pay $100 for a chance to win 5 grand as well as a few hours of free piss!
