Sprintstospace makes some very good points

I am an old schollar to St michaels yet do not play for SMOSH. I did play one season but returned to my district club because that is where I really felt I should be.

If you treat your players right, then there shouldnt be to big a loss, sure 4 or 5 will leave but like myself may return. the loss and gain of players is common for everyone.
I believe if done correctly there is room for more teams, of course it may bring to the end some other weaker clubs but will help to make the league stronger and better.

Did Broadview do anything to actively try and retain those under 16's???

District sides do put alot of effort into developing juniors, with the colleges think you will find they also put in effort, playing school on a saturday morning. Its not like old collegen sides are being made for public schools that dont have any consistent school football played.

For once the league needs to be strong and say NO!!!!!.

It serves no purpose. Just look at the clubs that are stuggling now in the league. We have already lost one this year with several others on the brink.

If you want to play go join a club that already exists and not start another one out of self interest!!!!!!

I'm the President of BOSFC and have been since the start and was asked by a lad named Chris Caporaso who was the founder of BOSFC in 2005 to help him get the club up and running.
When we came into the league there were players and there was a ground. We were not " .. hoping to use St Dominics old ground". Blackfriars School holds the lease of Park 2, and has done so for i think 40 years, and that is where we were going to and in fact do play.

Yes players have come from 'actively' playing at other clubs as they do between all clubs and leagues every year. Should all clearances be banned or does that not come under your defintion of 'self interest'?

12 players have left our club in the last 3 years to move to other clubs with financial incentives. We roll with the punches on that one as we know we cant compete, nor should we have to.

Fitzroy have had the most numbers come to BOSFC over 5 years. However, during the pre season we played practice games against them with a view to do so in the future due to the link between both clubs due to the school and juniors.

Let me guarantee you that the school does not reap the reward of what is happening at BOSFC. The players, sponsors, supporteres and committee reap the reward. I know first hand the work that goes into starting a club to develop a link between old scholars and their mates.

As for " ... future stolen from you by self interest groups" and old scholars clubs " ...Never gone any where in the league" what a load of bollocks. Maybe your measure of success is where you are in the pecking order. If so, not a view of success that I share. You say join a current club and get involved, i wonder whether i'd actually be welcome at your club.

Well said Sprint!!

i would have thought it woud be a good outcome, gives unley access too more Mercedes blokes (they have a few already) and gives Mercedes a home base. you would doubt much would change internally besides possibably the name? would have thoght IF unley want to climb div's which i believe they do then more numbers would be a great thing.

so unley will give up their name to bring in some mercedes players who will eventually leave anyway when they build up their own club..and if you are trying to create a mercedes college old scholars football club..why merge with unley?..why would players who went to mercedes leave clubs they are at now to go to a merged club?..they would leave to go to a club standing on its own you would think..not a hybrid..and unley arent the only club with mercedes connections..i am all for mercedes getting a team going but stand on your own :)

Wonder what the Unley High lads will think about a change of name to Mercedes?

Probably have to incorporate both names to keep everyone happy

Unley High Old Scholars Mercedes Unley Mitcham Girls Football Club
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Just call 'em "MUM'S" FC and be done with it! Logo could be a pram with a footy in it.
