Having played in the country many years ago I got a real taste for country footy. Who do you believe are the top 5 or so country clubs financially, facilities wise and on field performances.

Paskeville one of most well ran and Financial clubs within this state. Their facilities are pretty good for a country club, could do with a light upgrade, but you can still use full oval.

Roopena FC in the Whyalla League would definately be
one of the biggest if not the biggest.

They do meals 5 nights a week and lunches every
wednesday.
Also they have about 25 poker machines that are
open every day of the week until late at night and
they have one of the better clubrooms around.

They are also thinking about building rooms for
school carnival teams etc to rent out.

SS.
As far as i know it is something that has been bought
up at the club and they are looking into it.
How serious it is at this stage i am not too sure.

This is coming from a couple of different people that i
have talked to that are involved with the club.

Have you heard about it ??

Na, haven't heard much about it.
There's renovations going on in the members bar right now, well, outside, but eventually the members bar will be extended to have an outdoor facility too, so smokers can go out there.
But haven't heard much on accomodation for travelling teams, would be interesting, they've taken a few major gambles and paid off over the years, with the pokies, now practically serving meals every night of the week.
And lunches two days a week.
Who knows what is possible.
What club you tied up with?

Looks like Roopena is a very well managed club with some long term vision! Great stuff!

For a country club, you would be surprised.
Full time staff including a finance manager, andministration manager and operations manager hired.
I constantly hear complaining about the club not being a family club any more, but this just doesn't seem the case.
Pokies don't make or break a family club, the atmosphere does.
If the atmosphere changes, the families tend to leave.
Pokies also don't win premierships, Roopena got the pokies after the 97 premiership, they haven't won one since, fingers crossed this year is the one.
What is guaranteed is the future of the club, not the success of the team.
I believe that is what's important here.

They do all that so they can afford to pay Matt Manfield $850 per game

I know for a fact that he is not on that much.
Probably got that bulls**t info from a north whyalla
supporter as they have always been jealous of the ROOS.

It's ok. Like any club that is doing well for themselves, there's always the clubs who whinge about match payments and killing the family atmosphere, like Norths.
I would think many other good clubs around the state face similar criticism.
