Mail Medalists Book

Postby Benchwarmer » Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:22 pm

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of "The Mail Medalists"? I think it was by John Gascoyne and made in the mid to late 1990s.

I used to have a copy but it seems to have vanished over time and I'd really like to get my hands on a copy again.

You can write to John Gascoyne at:

6 Hambidge St.
Thevenard

Most libraries around the state have copies.

It is a great publication. The book has records to 1996. Does anyone have updated info on 1st 2nd 3 rd for any leagues for any years 1997-2006 and especially 1997-2000. The SANFL Grand Final budgets have a winners list with name and club. Country footy website has some info on 2006. Any info would be great to update records from book. Cheers.

What was it, about 400 pages wasn't it? A good quality hardback too. I am really looking forward to getting edition number two.

Bush legends by Anthony and Michael Madigan is the other essential read for anyone associated with country football. Ross Gibbs, Robbie Muir... they all brightened up the Great Southern league with what they did. Nothing but the truth.

Good read that one.
Supaveteran (I'm pretty certain) and I have both contributed stories for a second one, but it's yet to have been published.
The Madigan boys must be busy.

They seemed to disappear of the face of the earth.

I last tried contacting them about 18 months ago - no reply.

Surely after the success of No. 1 they would have had plenty of materiel come in for No. 2, the publisher would have been keen to go again and the success of No. 1 would have sold No. 2 even if it was crap.

It's a mystery, but I'm glad your on the case Doggie.
