A Touch of Magic

The Author of the book is John Gascoyne and this is another in a line of successful books he has written about football on the Eyre Peninsula.
Written to coincide with Koonibba's centenary and Mallee Park's 25 years, the book is the first to be produced entirely on Aboriginal football, anywhere in Australia.
The 390 page, hardbound document is a comprehensive history of Aboriginal football on Eyre Peninsula from its beginnings in 1906.
A Touch of Magic is largely about the Koonibba, Mallee Park, Rovers and Yalata Clubs, but also includes details on the involvement of aboriginal players throughout the Peninsula.
Five hundred photographs, some not seen before, are included.
The book launching will hopefully be attended by 'The Power's' Gavin Wangananeen, with input from Dean Heyne (dual mail medallist and premiership coach of Koonibba during the early 60's).
Light refreshments will be available at the launch and books will officially go on sale for a cost of $45.
Copies may be sent within the State for $53 and to interstate locations for $54.
At this stage the book is available at Spry's in Ceduna and Jim's Supermarket at Thevenard.
The book is also at various newsagencies on the Peninsula including Beer's Newsagency at Port Lincoln and from Cummins, Cleve, Wudinna, Streaky Bay and Port Augusta newsagencies.
Tandanya on Grenfell Street is the only outlet in Adelaide to stock the book at this stage.
