Good Friday footy debate

I went to Mildura for Easter and witnessed a crackerjack game of footy in front of a great crowd.

I wrote the piece linked below following this occasion:

I thought that it would certainly be an interesting debate to have on SA Footy regarding Good Friday footy in the country.

I thought it was fantastic, the SMFC would have done very well out of it and the atmosphere was bubbling.
But I can also see cons to it.

Would you be willing to see your club take it on for the benefits that will follow?
Or should it be footy free?

Not a bad idea. Do you know how they get around the alcohol bans that surround Good Friday?

Doesn't seem to be any in Victoria. Bottle shops were open.

That would explain it then. Perhaps this is a reason why it doesn't happen in SA. I can't imagine a country footy club hosting a match like this if they weren't allowed to sell alcohol. I know that grog isn't the be all and end all but it does count to a major part of the yearly cash flow for footy clubs.

What??
You can sell booze with a meal if you have a club licence. Might make a packet if you sell a sausage every time someone wants a beer!!
