The whole zone concept should be canned. Why have a bye for a few bloke to play in the zone game. Thousands miss out on a much loved community/social event, JUST FOR A FEW. Not to mention the missed $$$$$$ for the clubs and of course the APFL. Whould these players missing from their respective teams make difference if games were played?

Well given the fact that Mallala had four in the squad this year, at a guess, I would say that loosing four players that are good enough to make the zone squad might make a bit of difference to a country team

How many PLAYED? how many from apfl in a the squad ?. Say all squad members played, = more balanced comp? And is there any 1 country team to have 4 players in a zone game?

Only 5 from the APFL, but we had 13 in the squad I think (could be very wrong there). I hear what your say TwoGood4u but surely teams shouldnt be penalised. For instance Tanunda had 8 players playing zone, it would be a huge disadvantage. It will be very interesting to see what happens next year

barossa had the same rule as apfl. so it wouldnt effect them if they didnt change it

Two Wells travelled to Hamley Bridge Oval to take on the Bombers yesterday. The Roosters had been hit with injuries and made 6 changes from the side that defeated United by 74 points last Saturday. Defender Sam Barker was promoted after being in career best form in the Reserves. Terry Russell was making his A-grade debut for the Roosters since switching from Mallala during the off season. Youngster Ryan Hooper who starred for Two Wells during last year’s finals series returned to the Two Wells side as Woodville-West Torrens had the bye. The biggest inclusion was Chris “Bubba” Christofis the brother of Port Districts recruit Paul Christofis. Chris has kicked 20 goals in the Reserves so far this season and has a cult following at the footy club. Former Barossa District premiership forward Matt Laurie kicked the first goal of the match for Hamley Bridge and the home side should had lead by more than two points at quarter time as the Bombers had all the play. Roosters Alf Steed kept the visitors in the match with his dominance in the middle and three first quarter goals. The Roosters broke the game open in the second quarter with 6 goals included two from the pocket by Senior Colt Matt Sincock playing just his second match in the A grade after debuting last week. When Two Wells Paul Christofis goaled after the half time siren the Roosters lead by 23 points at the main break. Lee Allmond got the Roosters going with a beautiful goal on the run from boundary line early in the third quarter and Two Wells were threatening to break the game open but could only manage 3 goals for the quarter to extend their lead to 27 points at the final change. The Rooster added another 4 goals in the last quarter to run out winners by 35 points with the result never in doubt after quarter time. Alf Steed was again best for the Roosters. Paul Christofis had a day out kicking seven, while Tallan Leighton gathered many touches across the half back line. For Hamley Bridge Stuart Gregory played well, kicking two great running goals. The Bombers face United at home next week and will be looking to try and get their second win of the season. Two Wells have won their last two matches to take their season tally to six wins and six losses. After Virginia won again yesterday Two Well remain in fifth spot and a win behind Hummocks-Watchman Eagles and Virginia who play each other this Saturday. In reality Two Wells hasn’t beaten much in last two matches but has got the job done to keep their season alive. The Roosters face reigning premiers Mallala away in Round 15 in another must win match to keep the destiny of season 2010 in their hands.

if all your players played the zone game and club games were played, mallala will still feature in the GF. Penalties on players is not the way. Maybe! reward players & clubs

Two wells to miss the finals for me

Virginia travel to long plains on the weekend and just came home with a win. Virginia looked sluggish, they have had a few close encounters last couple of weeks and it showed. Credit to United though they played a exiting brand of footy with PB firing them up forward. If United recruit a few players and keep PB next year they should be really competitive.

Whats that based on Norm? didn't rate them on the weekend?

Don't think they will win enough games to take Virginias spot. Simple as that.

Totally agree with you there Norm. I saw the game Saturday against Hamley and to give credit where credit is due I thought Hamley's pressure was really good for majority of the game but both sides skill level was below par overall which I was under the impression that is what TW pride its self on is their quick ball movement. Two Wells have some really top class players such as Tallan Leighton (BOG in my eyes), Allmond, Steed and Seccafein who had a quiet day but was classy when he got thes ball and that at the end was the difference in the game but I still however can't see how Two Wells has the side to beat any of the top four sides. TW supporters will jump on here and defend the side by saying that they had a lot of injuries but I assure you that Hamley had more players out as I was standing amongst a lot of Hamley players watching the A-grade that would be 1st choice in the Bombers line up.

By the way Norm, I thought your magnet board holding on Saturday was first class and I am glad that I came out to witness such meticulousness. You have set a standard that not too many others can reach

I'm glad I could set such a high standard for u. I won't bite back though as I know what my job is and I do it well.

def have the side seeing ass we have already knocked off two of the top 4 already. i guess we will find out in 5 weeks if ur right.

Balaklava's 1pt win over arch rivals HW Eagles came at a cost on Saturday. The win cements the Peckers in 2nd spot ahead of the Eagles, Rams and Roosters who will fight out the last 2 spots in the four.

New recruit Elias "Silky" Palipuaminni suffered a badly broken arm that required pinning on Saturday night and is out for the rest of the season. Silky was proving a livewire with his chasing and excellent disposal and had 3 goals before going off midway thru the third qtr.

Big man Hayden Walker also suffered a chest injury during the 3rd term which saw him off for the majority of the rest of the game and may see him miss a couple of weeks. With the bye this week he may be ok for the Pies the week after but only time will tell.

Balak is nearly up to full strength and played no colts in the A's for the first time this season. If Whisky is fit will challenge the Pies next round after a weeks rest then will start favourites in the last 3 games (Tiges away, Roosters away then Bombers at home) to consolidate the double chance. Still a long way off challenging the Pies for the flag but if the injury gods smile on us we will be around the mark on the dry September grounds with our mix of talls and running players.

Can you give us some info on the new recruit Palipuaminni, Hazbeen? Was this his first game? Where is he from? What position does he play? Age etc? Bad luck for him and Balak if he 's injured like that in his first game.

Was his 3rd game, debuted against Hamley then played in the loss to Virginia then against the Eagles. Is a wingman/flanker in the true Tiwi Islands style, quick and elusive, game to us via the NT Thunder as a good mate of Stuey Lamonds works for them and finds teams for some of their players during the NT off season. Nice lad, only 19 or 20, quiet and unassuming. Will hopefully be back next year for a full season.

interested to know hazbeen how whiskey suffered a chest injury? did he get a whack there and hurt an organ?
