Country finals - noteworthy events

Postby FlyingHigh » Sun Sep 07, 2008 2:06 pm

Given it is footy finals times again, there will be records and hoodoos broken or added to. Hopefully people will post some of these in this thread, for those of us who are interested in such things.

For example:
- Wirrulla have won their first A-grade flag since in 26 years in the Mid-West league. Their last flag was in 1982, in the old Streaky Bay league.
- They also won the B's - does anyone know when they last won one in this grade?
- West Coast Hawks (MWFL) won another Colts final - what must be their 10th in a row
- Southern Eagles (YPFL) in their first GF since 1995.

Good result for the Brookers considering the recent pain they went through!

In the Mallee Rodney Maynard's last game was a win with Lameroo stopping BDT from winning a third straight flag.

In the Riverland Mark Ricciuto kicked the winning goal as Waikerie won its second straight flag.

Per HFL thread:

Ironbank's B grade lost 3 finals in the same series.

Anyone know of another club who have achieved that feat?

In the Adelaide Plains thread, there was a streaker at the Prelim who when doing a cartwheel knocked himself out cold and had to be stretchered off naked and unconcious.
