Does any one know what went on at this meeting? Any decisions made?

Sounds like the Mid Murray league will fold at the end of the year.
Several clubs looking at joining neighbouring leagues.

It was a fairly intense meeting.
I'll have more to say in coming days - just getting my copious amount of notes together for my personal and professional interests.

I can say that a lot of Mid Murray left the meeting fairly upset about the reality that was presented to them.

Where would the Mid Murray clubs go? To Independent Riverland League?

Ramco looking to Independents.
Suggested that Morgan folds. They were written off as a future club, much to their delegate's surprise - he's very keen to battle on no matter what. Sadly though it looks to be the truth.
Sedan-Cambrai looking to their options - possibly Mallee, along with BSR.
Robertstown????

Mallee clubs at the meeting said they would welcome the Roos to the comp - including the travel it would require.
Robertstown weren't so excited about it though.

Mallee clubs were willing to accept Mid Murray into their comp. However, despite having to bring in such large numbers of players from Adelaide, weren't keen to drop their B grade to alleviate the pressure they are under numbers wise.

Gee that would be a fair drive between Robertstown and Murrayville!! But if thats what it takes. Would have thought that BSR, S/C and Robertstown were more suited to the Independants?? Is there any room DW?

Always room. It's whether those clubs want to move here. The main problem is Indys don't have a reserves comp and only one junior comp, plus no junior netball.

I'm not sure if I'd be so keen to travel to Blanchetown and definitely not Sedan and Robertstown. That's just my personal opinion though.

Fair enough Robertstown, but Blanchtown's not all that far, Not too much further than East Murray, and probably a better road too! Sedan/Cambrai are a in the middle of no where a bit tho. Would the Indy's ever add to there junior football/netball programe?

Blanchetown's halfway to Adelaide. The way I look at it, if I'm going to travel half way to Adelaide to play footy, I might as well not be playing here. I could continue on and go play for my home club and then see family and friends.
However, you do make a fine point about the road and it not being THAT far ;)

I see your point about halfway to Adelaide. Sounds a long way when put like that!

That's only my personal feeling though mate. If BSR were to decide to join our comp, it would only benefit us as in the near future we could be faced with the same dilemma currently facing the Mallee and Mid Murray.
We need to be far sighted about these issues.

How competitive would BSR be in either the Mallee or Independent leagues? Is there any one that knows enough about all these leagues to make the comparison? I remember a few years back beating Cobdogla in a trial but unsure if that’s a good comparison.
Also does Mallee have B Grade and Juniors? couldnt see it as a good move to go to a comp that doesnt have b grade or juniors as i believe is the case with Independent, but surly the travel times would rule out Mallee??

The Mallee League has A & B grade, U/16's and U/13's. I'm not sure about the comparitive standards of the 2 leagues.

I think if BSR continued an aggressive recruiting campaign, they would be competitive in the Mallee comp.
They would be one of the stronger teams in Indys.

BDT to head to RMFL giving them 8th team - eliminating the bye.
Ramco to head to Independents giving them 8th team - eliminating the bye.
Robertstown to merge with Eudunda to form stronger 8th team in NEFL.
BSR, Morgan/Cadell, Sedan/Cambrai to form a "Mid Murray Mallee" league of 8 teams. 16 rounds a season where the extra two games would be played against nearest neighbours to cut down on travel.
Final four across the board.

I know probably blown away by independants but did hear whispers that Meningie might be mallee bound- I am not sure that BDT would be that keen to head back to RMFL- mind you at this stage probably not in their hands?

I believe Shezza is refering to the existing Mallee League clubs, minus BDT, plus BSR, Morgan/Cadell and Sedan/Cambrai
