There is a bit of debate in the amateur league forums about ANZAC Day games and who should play and how it should be done.
Do any country leagues play on ANZAC Day?? If so, how are the two teams decided and how does it go?

Just a question for those that have been involved in playing on Anzac day.
Does the day run as per a normal game day - Colts, Reserves & Seniors??
Because isnt there something that nothing is suppose to happen on Anzac day (other than the Dawn Service) prior to 12 o'clock??

In Port Lincoln FL (as mentioned by WC Panther) the Anzac day match is always a replay of the previous years A grade grand final. There are no U10, U12, or U14 matches that round (round 1)with U17 starting at noon, B grade at 1.20 pm and league at 2.40. U17's is a shortened match of 4 X 15 min 1/4's (normally 20 min) and B grade 4 X 15 min (same as normal)
The late start to the football day is out of respect to those attending Anzac Day ceremonies as in years gone by there was all this loud cheering during close by marches, speeches etc, which here in Port Lincoln is all over by midday. This was a compromise beween PLFL and RSL organisers and works well,

I believe Crystal Brook will be hosting a game this year, this is the first time I've known an ANZAC day game to be played on the day apart from when it falls on a Saturday.

Langhorne Creek will be playing Strath on ANZAC day this year however I don't think anything like this has been done in the GSFL in the past. It will be a night match at Strath oval with the youngsters starting at midday or just after.

It should be the grand finalists from the year before playing in such a great game or it becomes the monopolised farce that belongs to Collingwood and Essendon in the AFL.
