Berri in trouble

Postby ben swarmer » Tue Dec 11, 2007 7:33 pm

Also heard Berri are really struggling with their recruiting. The boys from Goody saints 2nds may not be coming back to fill the holes left by many players leaving the club

Any truth to the rumour Terry Bonner is leaving the club?

Me too. Did hear he was headed back to Adelaide, although I know he was heavily courted by Renmark.

spoke to a former berri player the other day and he seems to think that too many people at berri are involved at the football club for themselves and not doing the best thing for the club. Including the coach who has been given a pay rise and a car by the Berri (Hotel) football club. Considering how many locals have left the club in the past 3 years I have to agree with him and wonder if the club just doesnt care about its local players. Certainly no depth there if injuries take their toll this year. B grade and under 18s are really struggling.

pretty certain? i spent some time there but its always difficult to see a club going in the opposite direction to where you'd like them to. they did really well last year but now it seems the cheque book from the hotel is open and it will alienate the locals even more than previous years. sad to see i wish theyd stand on their own two feet and strive to be successful on and off the field. alot of people feel the same way as i do

By saying pretty certain, I meant I'm pretty certain I know who you are. Not placing your thoughts in doubt.

I was told on the weekend that Berri are still talking to 5 or 6 Goody players and its likely they will go there. I think half of them had A grade experience at Goodies.

I've been told that they lost 9 players and gained 11 so far so i'm guessing most played junior footy there otherwise they'll stuggle with the points system

depends if some of those they've gained have moved to the region for work, which at least three have. Means they are classified as locals.
