Is it the water over there or are they all breast fed till there 16? It seems every discent player from KI is at least 6'6 tall or 6'6 wide (sorry Nevy but it's true).From the Lades & Stoeckel's to the Tomas & Clarkes all big boys why is that?

I think you will find Thomas was breast fed up until 18, left the Island and couldnt get to the boob but a return to the Island in 05 got him right back on the bandwagon. Mums been sending the bottles of breast milk over on the ferry for years tho!

I believe that big unit Howard that played at Compass in 06 was from KI and big Robby Wheaton from Pongy is also an Island lad. I think your on to something Micky...

Tell me about it, I played in a rep game against the buggers a couple of years ago - and they were massive. Scarily big.

Big Daniel May at South Adelaide.... Derrick and Jason Wheaton who played at Onka Valley and Pongy.... all 6'6''... the list goes on...

Jason Wheaton, is he still going around Ape. One of the best midfielders I have seen in country footy. A real gun, and top bloke to boot!!

Yes people, you read that right MIDFIELDER! Maybe not 6'6" Probably, 6'2" is closer to the mark and 100kg of ripped get in my way and I'll kill you (or dance around you just cos I can), please have my babies KI midfielder. Thumping kick, sublime skills, chick magnet. My hero. Had it all.

I think Jason coached Wisanger (KIFL) to a flag in 05? Apparently came off the bench when they needed a quick five goals. He only never eeded about ten minutes game time to win a match. I believe he is still playing but sustained a serious back injury on the farm which has slowed him down a bit in recent years. Arguably the second best footballer the Island has produced (after fellow Wisbanger - Brendon Lade)

And yes, one of the all time great blokes.

Surely David 'Sticks' Steockel would be in KI's top couple Ape?

Captain of a league club would suggest that he went alright and I think he won a Mail Medal in Port Lincoln?? To be honest I never saw him at his best. Same goes for Danny Jenkins. Won the Jack Oatey medal in '82 so also must have been a fair player.

Matty Thomas abslote gun league ruckman, was the only way the panthers were goning to win a GF after 18 years. New crop of 6 footers comming through with B Crabb and D May carving up for Souths reserves apparrently.

Speaking of Matty Thomas quite the goal kicker aswell. From the Wisanger clubroom doors on the side of the goals. Kicks it almost every time, won himself a footy trip out of it and to this day continues to kick it whenever hes on the Island.

Why stop at 16!!! Its all the swimming they have to do when they want to get the mainland to watch such brilliant stars of the game such as Baxter, Wadawitz, Radbone, Gilbert, Thomas!!!! At least they dont have to swim as far as they used to when these legends were domination the SANFL

Was lucky enough to play with Jason and Derek for a season. Both boys loved a drink and could play. All round top blokes.

Glenn Buick was a 6 footer who's just hung up the boots over there!!! He played a big in the south 2's and for Yank.
