Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

The people you are bagging are blokes that have played their whole life at that club and put everything into it. I could count on one hand how many handballs Marshall dished out this season or how many times he could have switched play but didn't. The reason people like him don't stick around is because when it's time to talk about next season the club isn't stupid enough to pay them the money they are asking.

Please don't be confused about why recruits, any recruits, don't stay - it's because the local boys treat them like turds in a punchbowl (I realise I've used that line before). Then the locals wonder why they leave and complain about how "they didn't handball it to me" - I've used this before too but it really is pathetic.

Look up the word TEAM - and start again!

I see Newman's point, but when a recruit accepts the kind of money Bridgey offered there is always baggage. Perhaps they'd be better off spreading the cash round a little on a few players.

Why would they stay BH Boozehound is right the paid players that go up there are expected to change the world and get little or no help from the so called leaders and senior players of the Bridgewater Footy Club. Once the club started losing games regulary players like Bateman, Henshke and Gain started the lets divide the club and blame the imports club, which gathered momentum and Bridgewater self destructed. You cant possibly expect recruits to embrace the club when certain high profile players start to do this. It certainly seems a club of individuals and ego's and that certainly is a recipe for disaster. To add more woe to the club I have heard that the clubs best player beaver has a meeting with Onkas on Friday and may possibly be leaving the club. Bye Bye Bridgy if this happens!!! Ballhog you cant talk about what ifs, those players didnt hang around for a reason, and its the same reason why the club has a revolving door at the end of each season. Captain Koala and is merry men good luck.

Bateman should learn how to play footy first. He would not play A grade in any of the Top 7 clubs in the hills. Absolute hack! Yes huge loss if Beaver leaves. Top player and bloke to boot. Should have been Bridgewaters captain this season gone.

The problem is that most people take one look around the joint and do the bolt. Why would you want to play with a club that is divided, has an oval the size of a postage stamp that floods and hasn't played finals in a decade? The club needs a total overhaul.

What's the deal with the Bridgey coach? Sounds like he must be gormless to let all this go on.

He is a good bloke. Who always plays for the team.
Im sure if the Bridgewater players around him did the same they would not be sitting down the bottom of the ladder.

Cant blame him for wanting to get out of there...
he served the club well this year, so maybe take a look at yourself before you blame the imports

=D> backflanker08,
BALLHOGS silly post ( Marshall not a team player )
Your voting system down there BALLHOGS needs a revamp if your making those bold & silly statements.
Marshall won your B&F & yes he was payed handsomely, i think he proved his worth.
By the sounds of it your club is in alot of trouble which doesn't surprise me when they have people like you that is very critical of your seasons club champion. He was approached by your club, offered a certain amount, had a good think about it & then accepted the deal, he then went about his business consistantly.(winning the Best & Fairest)
If only the upset jealous team-mates of Marshalls played with the same passion he does week in week out they may of actually won a few more games.

Candyman, who are the guys that Lynch is bringing to Onkas?

Candy, i have heard the same whispers too,his record is pretty poor. I dont think its Onkas trying to saving money either, have heard he is getting more than Collins got last season!! Klun is returning to the club though that will help them.

Hey peoples - just wondering if anyone knows the update on the leagues take on the review of the points system? - whether it be tiered in 09, or across the board to be lowered. SFL I know looking at a tiered system I believe.

Newman I think you have your wires crossed I'm not who you actually think I am. I don't know where you got your mail from but I find it rather amusing that your bagging these blokes and assuming Hog is one of them. All I will say is I get along well with the three lads you have been sledging.

The boys were saying that Lynch will be bringing, Rosewall that's if he doesn't go back to Henley, and Lee Bluecher and Shane Baldock, from what I hear I hope your ready for the easiest pre season ever, he doesn't plan too much and I hope you like an extra spectator on saturdays he doesn't do a lot from the coaches box, that is coming from a few players at Aldinga that I know.
rooster, i agree that you guys wont be bottom next yr, bridgy will take that mantle without dramas, but surely you cant seriously think youl even get close to the top 5... ironbank and onkas failed to get there this yr and i cant see you guys even being close to competing with them... should get the 4 wins of lobe and bridgy though..
Have heard that Matt krieg who played at north adealaide last year has been in talks with 2-3 north players who have all played snipets of league footy, and all are keen to have a kick with him because of the type of player he is. Apparently a great guy who works pretty hard for his side. You can build real success around those types of blokes. I rekon they could be a bit of a surprise packet in 09. Which is great for the League!

The only surprise packet that the roosters hold is whether or not they will continue to celebrate EVERY GOAL like they are 10 goals up in the last quarter of a GF... Fair dinkum, what are people putting in the collection plate???

Can you name the last "highly paid household name" that had an impact coaching in the HFL mate???

The IB appointment is right on the money (whatever the figure may be) and was never in doubt... Strop Campbell has been getting the very best out of his players in the magoos for 3 years now & that will continue to happen with a far more talented group in the main game... and with more time to concentrate on coaching (not having to keep a tally of his spectacular goals) each week...

With a few recruits & further development of the homegrown lads they will definitely figure in the major round for years to come... He is a very good coach, and hopefully for the Thunderers grows into a SUPER coach.

I think generally most of the local players get right behind the recruits as long as they stay for a piss up here and there and dont have a bad attitude. I think the problem more comes from the committee level. They hold the recruits accountable for the losses for sure. There are a few including beaver, baters, henschke, smith boys, Staniford (top lad and player) that are quality but after that you are just making up numbers. (sorry if I missed some poeple). They need to focus on getting all there good local lads back and keeping current ones (especially beaver) and then look at recruiting younger lads (18-25) just out of the SANFL system that they can groom and keep around for a while. Importantly the locals need to get right behind them and make them feel welcome. A big sponsorwhip drive to fix the facilities up wouldn't go astray either, pretty difficult recruiting blokes to play there every second week. End rant......

perhaps because country leagues including the hills rarely have the foresight to look out of their own backyards for a coach???
