I heard Mannum won by 5 goal, not what most expected

Was out at mannum today. Roos only started to click after half time. May have been a fitness thing. Jervois looked solid enough. Was suprised that coulter spent most of the game in the back 50. The junior players for the roos looked like they are well and truly up to senior footy.

meningie were shocking. to many blokes gave up. i would be spuen if i was one of the persons pumping money in to pay players with a performance like that. imperials were impressive you can tell they have played a lot of footy together. (no individuals) some very good players. i thought boyd kennys grunt work and tackling was excellent. played a very good game

One round in and there are now only 4 contenders. Not at all suprised by how close got Mypo got to Ramblers. Imps are only half fit but were super impressive. The game also confirmed something I thought last year - Motlop cant coach.

You have been saying Mypo will be around the mark! Imps must have played a brilliant brand of footy today, would have been good to watch. I do recall a Mannum side beating Mypo by 15 goals early last year and look at what Mypo went on to achieve. May be a bit early call the curtains on their (meningie) season. Jervois have some good young players and I suspect they will improve as the year goes on.

I did pick Mypo to win this game when noone else gave them a chance. They play a fantastic brand of football and if they had a couple more talls would probably deserve to be flag favourites on their form last year. Remember no one got within 6 goals of Mypo in the last half of the year besides Grand Final day.

PB If you saw the way Meningie played today I think you would call it curtains too. They were disgraceful against a half baked Imps lineup.

Totally agree. They are a well coached unit. I was going to say I wasn't there and you would know being there what Meningie looked like. Still can't believe Imps beat them by 100points against Motlop's "press"

Judging by the results in round 1, Jervois would nearly be favourites for 5th position (obviously very early days, and a long way to go in the season).

Final 5 in a 7 team comp. What a joke!

Can anyone clarify for me the subject of clearances. If you got cleared to a club in a different league and then came back to the same league from where you originally came from but to a different club do you need to get a clearance from the club that you were originally with in the league your coming back to.

Yes. The rule was brought in to stop players from using a third party club from outside the league to gain automatic transfer from clubs within the same league. When the rule was brought in you could deny a clearance simply because the player wanted to go to a player in the same league so using a third club was a way around this.

Is there a time factor with this rule?

Had a chat to a bloke on the community footy board and apparently you dont need two clearances anymore because now you can only hold a player who is under contract or unfinancial no matter whether it is inside or outside of your league. Hope this clears this up.

Any news on ins and out s for this round?

Imps I reckon by 6 goal over Mypo
Mannum by 4 goal over Meninge
Tailem to get over Jervois in the game of the round by 3 points

Anyone able to fill us in on the ex Bulldog lining up for Meninge this weekend?

As for me, might sneak over and watch the enemy across the road. Should be a good day so long as the Mypo fans don't get the sooks on and leave early

I think you will find Dalwood is talking about Djerkurra, I'm not sure if he's playing this wk though.

Handy in 'if' it does happen!

Wouldn't want to wait to long cos this year is guna be tough. But then again, top 5 is pretty predictable. Seriously should be a top 4 shouldn't it? Would make things a lot more interesting

I see Motlop played despite injury concerns but no sign of Djkuerra.

Mannum thumped Meninge like expected, can anyone fill me in on other results?

Mypo simply ran Imps off their legs to win by about 5 goals. To all those punters who thought Mypo would drop away I think you may need to think again. They dont have great depth but I saw a top three side today.
