That's a very good result for Ramblers. Shocked by the Meningie game as Strath weren't very strong last year, and tipped to be cellar dwellers again. The mighty Imperials used their weaponry sparingly and we're quite happy to go into the season as underdogs.

Saw the Meningie v Strathalbyn Game, excellent hit out for both clubs, Meningie won by two goals after being even at 3/4 time.
Ben Gibbs fantastic in middle, Benbow kicked 4 goals 5 or so he told me, Meningie have some new guys who look really good. a young guy who played on the wing wore number 53 was fantastic, and couple of players from APY lands were really good as well.

Yeah totally agree "flukey" it was a good hitout today thanks to meningie football club for there hospitality. Was good for our blokes to have a bus trip down at a club we hadn't played at before. Strath were up by 5 goal at half time but meningie after a rev up at half time came out on top outrunning us in the last half. No 53 for meningie was very handy skinny but ran everywhere kicking let him down but heard he kicked on his non preferred all day? Benbow up fwd is à big solid bloke missed some easy shots, ware was good but didn't look as fit as last year didn't hurt us too much. Motop played in his normal freakish ways.
If the river Murray umpires paid the hands in the back rule Motop would get caught out a bit playing from behind all the time. Talking about umpires is it right that river Murray are taking on the new ridiculous sliding rule this year and no contact between rucks before a throw up?

Entertaining game between Imperials and Barossa District. I would suggest both will be there at the pointy end of the season. Heard Mypo beat Nairne by about 7 goals after being 6 up at quarter time. They beat them by around 25 goals last year. Not sure if that means that Mypo have slipped back a bit or Nairne have improved.

Yes correct we was spoken to by the umps a couple of weeks back, ridiculous rules, one would think you would trial in the afl first, for anyone that watched the game last night the slide rule is a joke and I am not a crows supporter haha, I think the umpires today where pretty fair with the decisions in that department, none where payed so all good!!

Yeah Jervois beat Birdwood last week by 2 goals and Mannum beat them but 14goals. Mannum a much better side and were looking close to full strength. Pretty well drilled and clean skills although their depth might be an issue if they lose some of their top players through injury. Birdwood B's beat them by 10gls.

Seems Mannum may live up to all the expectations judging by that result

Ramblers have amazing depth this year, beat Langhornes b's by 7 goal and then had 26 or so play in the a's so 5 of those will drop back for round 1. Also had 3 including Kay not play due to injuries. Look for Altmann, Rumbles and Liam O'neil to have very strong seasons, and Muffy graced us with his presence and still has what it takes to make a huge impact once he gets some game time under his belt

Mannum were inaccurate having 32 scoring shots to 6, some kicking practice needed for a few repeat offenders. Think after the trials have been played I can make a calculated prediction on the season. Im going with Ramblers being a 2-3 goal better side than the next four - Imps, Roos, Bears and Tigers in no order. Throw a blanket over them. Of course injuries will have more of a toll on Mannum and Meningie. Shaping up as a great year in the RMFL!

Bowen was there and was good again, Hall and Tonkes up forward were dangerous, pech was good, it was a solid effort from all. For me it was the delivery into the forward line that was standout, thanks to hall, ribbons, clayton and sheedy.

I have heard Margitich has been released from North Adelaide. Sounds as though he is returning to the Ramblers but there has been a few Div 1 clubs approach him.

I thought Mannum had already won the flag ;)

Should be a cracker of a year to follow on from last year. Chooks obviously the hunted at the moment. Cant see Imps ever being too far off the pace with Meningie and Mannum to be around the mark.

Im probably more intrigued to see how the Tigers line up. Often very quiet on here but a side that went within a kickof ultimate glory surely cant drop off too much.

Season 2013

Postby Flukey » Tue Apr 02, 2013 10:48 am

OK the real stuff starts this Saturday

Here are my Premership table predictions for 2013

Ramblers
Mannum
Imperials
Meningie
Mypolonga
Jervois
Tailem Bend

No real surprises there i guess though

Should be exciting footy throughout the year, There are some real gun players in this league and some of the match ups will be worth your $7 each week.

That ladder looks about right, Flukey.

I did a prediction ladder a few weeks ago, where I had Ramblers lower down, but I do agree now, that they - and Mannum - are favourites, with Imps not much further away as well.
