From what I understand the reason for the clash is the fact the imports get paid and some of the locals who don't get a cent play just aswell if not better than them.

"CATCH 22" is a great book I read once, very similar story at the Raiders, the club needs to recruit guys to come and play, to add depth, quality etc. When they turn up they're made to feel as welcome as turds in a punchbowl by a contingent of (mainly) so called senior players - who then start moaning when the recruits don't win them a stack of games. This has been the case for a number of years.
You can't have it both ways. The moaners need to realise the club needs everyone working as one big team, the fact that they can't get their act together off the field is reflected by the dismal performances each Saturday.

If they (the moaners) don't like that aspect they should move on, to who knows where, because most clubs now have paid recruits playing for them.

I also know that the club did pay some of their own players this year, to try and reward locals, even that didn't stop the complaining, it's pathetic.

I totally agree toot toot about the paid players getting their money and running they could not give a shit about the club. From what I understand wasn't Marsh the assistant coach at Bridgewater aswell if that was the case I find it very disapointing that the two games he didn't play he didn't even come out and support and assist with coaching. Butch and Bents two of the best pick ups the Raiders ever had.Ive never seen a football club so divided as what Bridgewater is at the minute it's rather unfortunate that the people at the club can't all agree on what's best.

I think you will find its a few more than 1 or 2 young blokes wanting to leave Mt Lofty for Echunga. Try 6 or 7!

I would think you would find going back over the years ,that teams playing in GF's nearly always lose a few players who missed selection . It is the nature of the beast.
On cooper and Fleet they have been talking for a couple of years about leaving and with Bawden coaching Echunga that looked an option , but as far as i know Bawds is not coaching Echunga next year.

I would have thought a good captain could unite a team. Where was he during all the turmoil. I understand he was rushed to hospital and put into intensive care at one stage only to find it was a corkie. I feel for the young fellas at Bridgewater. There are some fantastic lads I hope they don't grow up thinking that all clubs are like that. The sooner Beaver becomes captain and the young fellas step up and move the old ones out the better. The clucky group have pleanty to say behind backs... I saw the Blackwood game and was amazed to see henschke having a go at his team mates during the game? Why would you want to have a drink after a game?

I put this to everyone reading, Would you have a beer after a game with blokes you know are bitching behind your back?

Who told you he was a legend, the horses mouth!!!

By far the most arrogant bloke in the comp.... Only bloke ive seen kick at goal whilst still talking to opposition players, only to miss the goal and still proceed to pump his own tyres!!!

I would suggesting bitching happens at most football clubs. I used to play with a guy that sent his girlfriend in to get his pay packet and we are still bitching about that, and that was 6 years ago!!!!

I've got no idea what your problem is Newman but I've been at the club a few times this year and have not heard any one bitching about anyone. From what I hear the young lads get along well with the senior players. I have one other question those senior players you are talking about have put years into that club and each year they get the same return so you would think someone such as yourself could see how frustrating it can be. Not sure what your background is but could you handle playing 10 years without winning?

Not one of Bridgy's 21 should be paid except for maybe beverlander and Smith...

Bridgy has enough local talent in the smith brothers, young stucky, pohl, beverlander to at least build a "competitive" side around... Problem for mine is ordinary leadership and off-field decisions! Though i have stated moving would be my suggestion you can still attract players to a club with a small oval and ok facilities as at Ironbank... But it would involve a complete reconstruction of the clubs culture and attitude and i just don't think Bridgy are ever going to fix that!

Surely Paul Marshall would have deserved some money??? He did win the best and fairest didnt he? Luke Walsh finished in the top 5 , should he not get something for travelling there every week and finishing in the top 5?

The problem doesn't exist so much between the local (junior and senior) players, it's how the recruits are treated, with the exception of Bents and Butch, the remainder have been either ignored or been talked about behind their backs about how they're certainly not worth the money etc etc etc, this goes for guys like Kluzek who, according to some couldn't play.

People (everyone) need to realise that the club needs these guys to be even slightly competitive, it's no good getting them to the club only to have them feel like lepers.

The_Special_One It is often the case that the player hated most by the opposition is the most loved by his teammates. You would not find one person at Mt Lofty that doesn't rate Flash very highly on and off the field.

On another note, good to see Captain Couragous Heath Cutting get a fair chunk of the publicity in this week's courier. He doesn't often recieve the accolades that guys like Burch, Bawden, Wood, Mehta and Flash do (and Trigger, T White and Flogga in past seasons) but he is the most respected player at Devil Park and has been the obvious choice as Captain over the past three or four years. He will be sorely missed by all of the playing group, coaches and supporters. We all hope Cuttso returns less tanned and more emo in 2010!

Who are the candidates for the Captaincy in '09? Whoever gets that gig has one hell of an act to follow.

Cutts has been a good mate of mine since 05 when I arrived at Devil Park. He is a true leader. one that doesn't mind having his say when needed, but more importantly he shows it week in and week out on the field! Not the largest most muscular bloke on the field, but goes in just as hard as anyone in the comp.

I would have to say that Matty Stapes would get the gig. With D.K. Stevens as vice. Both players are similar to cutts on the field, as in give it their all.

Now I will also throw it out there. I would put Buckets in as Deputy Vice. Or apart of the leadership group. He is a great kid and from what I hear, has come in leaps and bounds this year. I reckon by putting him in the leadership group, he would only become better!!

I would leave burchy out of it. He will always be apart of the leadership group anyway, but he had an amazing year just by focusing on his footy!

I have played footy with Buckets since I was 7 years old and I have heard him say about 2 or 3 sentences in that time.

Well i think this is my 1st post since sat (been fairly under the weather this week) so well done to the devs again. three in a row is awesome, proud to be part of the club after battling b4 the last few yrs.. supers are gonna come back bigger and better next yr.

also like to say congrats to the blackwood bs well deserved win and gained a fair bit of respect for them during and after the game. too good on the day..

cuttso, ya big piece of emo whitebread, all the best in sweden mate youve been i think the most important player in the clubs revival and should be proud of what uv acheived....

re: FLASH.... deadset legend, he's also the only person ive seen talking to the opposition whilst having a shot and actually kick the goal from the boundary bout 50 out.. haha love that shit....
