I don't understand why Bridgewater are against tyring something different, when a club has been where they are for so long surely you would try to mix things up a bit you aren't going to be any worse off. Having someone who excels at their individual sport could be an insperation to a club such as bridgewater. With the number of good young players comming through now is the time to change the attitude at Bridgy before they become stuck in the rut, like so many before them.

Spoke to him last week and he got suspended for 5 days or something (seemed trivial), but then when Onkas B grade was playing at Balhannah he got reported again for being on oval, he was kicking footy with 4 yr old or something and the league re-reported him for being on oval. But he then got that dropped! When i seen him he wasnt happy, and said to me he has had a gut full, and didnt wanna coach anymore!

The underlying feeling that I get is that their senior administration over the last two years have not been capable of make decisions which will benefit the club not only in the short term but in the long term as well.
I believe that an elite athlete who has worked with an afl club a few years ago offered his services last year at an very attractive rate to teach players at Bridgewater some new skills which would benefit their game. In their wisdom, the Bridgewater decision makers decided that the club was better off to teach the players how to kick rather than teach them some totally new skills which some afl clubs are taking on board!!!
The proof is in the pudding. The above mentioned athlete went on to represent his country at the highest level possible recently, Bridgewater won 2 games in a grade this year.
.

I reckon teaching guys how to kick is not a bad start, rather than how to fall down with some grace!

Yeah , a great effort this year winning 2 games after being taught how to kick the sher

I'm sorry "can't beat the facts' Bridgewater might have won more games by employing a martial arts expert, they might have at least won the fights.

This situation does highlight the fact that Bridgewater does have an element of it's "supporters" that totally spit the dummy if they don't get their own way. This so called expert was put up as an option, the committee decided not to take up the offer and are subsequently seen as short sighted and "not capable of making decisions that would benefit the club". I guess it does come down to opinion, the committee is put into place to make a whole myriad of decisions, some we can agree on, others not - this is why they are there.

Members give them the authority to run the club, if you or anyone else don't like it you can change the it at an AGM. Moaning about individual decisions is divisive and does more damage to the club in the long run.

I reckon some "supporters" should look up the word in the dictionary and see if they fit the description.

How could Kym Tattersall possibly be thought of for umpiring an U/14 GF, let alone a central 'A' Grade GF..what a disgrace

by the way, a little birdy told me that he has a love interest through the Nairne football club...

last name rhymes with bait...

Agree Raymond (if no Hahndorf) and Liebelt. Would go for McDonald or Graham but they are getting a bit old, maybe Morrison or Tanner. Haven't been won over by Tattersall and forget the rest!

thats interesting as he was on the side lines for the entire b grade game with the b grade team board and was making a few coaching decisions. i actually thought for a while he was the acting coach on sunday! didn't notice if he went onto the field at the quarter breaks

Thats interesting, i would have thought that having coached the onkas a grade and having a season that like they did he would stay clear of the b grade, looks like his coaching didnt do them any good either!!!!

Dont mt lofty give their players lollies at the breaks, no wonder you were not paying attention to what was happening around you!!!!

Sorry howie but that is one of the funniest things i have heard on this forum!! maybe if they were trying out for olympics for judo then maybe he would be good at bridgey, but i think you have forgot that bridgewater is a football club who play footy not judo, what would you think would happen if they employed him?? maybe he mite be able to teach them how to karate kick a ball for goal.
As for bridgey, well good luck too them, apart from pissing of their locals off they are just being a proud club and i think their pride is getting in the way but shit for everyone out there who loves the club you would probably do thwe same

Maybe, but it seems the golden whistle has a fair bit to do with personality rather than how you go on the day.Like Macca's a top bloke, good umpire and all that, knows everyone, gets a long well with most people (Torrens Valley not so much) and so he's on 9/10 each game regardless of how he goes on the day.
Other umpires are on a hiding to nothing before they even take the field, see references to here to Clarkey, Morrison, Tatts, Marston etc. On the other side of the coin, If you go by ratings here, Dennis Raymond should have won. I'm sure some goal umpires take rating seriously, but in general, and when you see who some clubs scrape up at the last minute to Goal ump, then they do votes on the Golden whistle, makes you wonder on prestige of the thing.
Tho with like 10 golden whistles, maybe Macca really is just that good even with his ripe old age and craggy face!

Was that Sutherland who was just featured on Almost Footy Legends missing a goal after the kickout from a point was kicked straight to him against Hahndorf.

Bat Pad I don't think the idea behind getting this expert to help bridgewater was to teach us how to fight it would be more for a fitness and mental thing. The sad thing with Bridgewater is all these people having a say about weather we should move to cornerstone or go to country division are mostly people that don't even come out and watch and support the Raiders. Has anyone gone to the players and asked them what they want because if they are pissed off as you said Bat Pad the club had better be carefull with which road they travel.

Correct call GTS... and pretty sure the bloke kicking out was Chris Brown.
Reckon that must have been the day we had hailstorms (if the footage was from this year).

Happy to see McDonald win the Golden Whistle as it may be his last. Agree Dennis Raymond was very good and will probably take his mantle as number 1 in hills. Just glad to see TM stand up and do Div 1 games after we didn't see him in 07. Give them the grand final and don't bother with a 3rd umpire I say.
