River Murray Football League talk

Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

He was linked to Meningie during last season's pre-season as well, and I think it was mentioned in one of the other country footy threads - Hills Footy? - that one of those clubs was chasing him too.

I haven't seen the Sunday Mail article yet, but would be interested to see what they're basing this on.

What I dont understand is why clubs ( not just Ramblers ) would say they are paying crackers for high quality players when it is ok to pay them well. Joel came straight out of league football in the prime of his career. To suggest he would come for $150 is just laughable when his market value is close to 1K. Would be the feel good story of the decade.

Never heard of $100 bills FTO??

Certainly a good news story for the RMFL in the Mail today. Dalwood may have even been involved with orchestrating that column.
I seen Jake Bowan on the Glenelg Tram today with a Mannum shirt on, so I assume he is now officially a Roo?

Neon Leon has been linked to more clubs across Australia than Fevola. Wasn't he linked to the Barossa recently? Would be good to see him in this humble league.

Went out to training Wednesday and Bowen has been tearing the track up.

I don't have any doubts that Bowen and all of the mannum recruits for that matter would be lifting the standard at training. Lets be real these boys are quality and it can only serve the mannum footy club well. As for the Leon Davis situation, well played Meninge. Maybe the other six RMFL clubs should delve a little deeper into available funding support to get Leon's kinda quality on board?? Meninge v mannum should make for some decent viewing. Hopefully these rumours are true because if they are there should be some good revenue taken in at RMFL games this season.

What a complete mockery that would be

Big loss if Ferenci has gone, along with King and the Pie-eater. Everything alright down at Meningie Hopper?

I take my hat off and congratulate the Mannum's and Meningie's for their recruiting efforts. This recruiting will certainly bring interest to this league from outsiders. People often ask if the $70-80k they spend on players each year is too much? My answer, this isn’t enough until these sides take the cup away from the monopoly held by the Murray Bridge clubs. That will decide how much is enough. No longer a humble league Bazza, arguably the best country competiton in SA IMO.

Have noticed seems to be a few pending clearances for players heading to Imps. Anyone know anything about those players?

Probably depends on the definition of "best" - if we are talking overall standard - although the RMFL has had more high profile recruits than most other leagues in recent years, it would be quite unlikely that it is now the best/strongest.

That title I think would belong to Hills Central, perhaps BLG is up there, and GSFL would be stronger too.

By available funding I mean that Meninge has the services of a SANFL indigenous programs coordinator and I have a sneaky suspicion that there would be some funding from either the AFL or SANFL to help the Bears cover Leons cabbage. I'm not saying I know that this is a fact but if in fact it is then the other clubs should do some research and see if they can't access some funding to get quality players such as Davis to their club.

I tend to agree with GWW. Elite are good, but the depth is questionable.

I thought it was common knowledge that the Bears don't pay Motlops wage due to this initiative. Nothing wrong with it. However, if we saw two players under the scheme play for the same club some serious questions would be raised. As it stands, there is no such talk so no need for panic ... yet!
