If this is the case, then I apologise. I was under the impression that a protest was lodged by the club. Maybe I should take 10 deep breaths before posting, or 10 deep bourbons. :drinkers:

yeah mate can understand how u feel ...no one wants to win games this way ..what was the problem ? presuming an unqualified player ?

Apparently Mt Lofty played a player who had played 9 a grade games and 8 B Grade games, including the last 3 in the B grade and the majority of the second half of the season in the B Grade.

Who??? I thought that if both teams were in the finals then the teams could swap around whoever they want. Does this mean that if you wanted to drop an A grade player for discipline or bad form over the last 3 weeks or so he would have to miss a game altogether??.... Surely that cant be the rules

Does seem rather harsh on this Mt Lofty lad if what's been said is true about playing most of second half in the B grade. He should not have to miss out on finals because he can't get an A grade gig.

Yes there is a grey area with this rule, apparently Mt Barker had a couple of young blokes who they wanted to leave out of the a's last week, but were forced to play them in the a's after being told that they would not be able to play b grade.

So what happens if a club has teams playing on different days all through the finals, does that mean that a player dropped from the a grade technically can only play again if both teams reach the grand final?

Boys, there are no grey areas. Clubs should be fully aware of the rules. This was not brought about by Ironbank in any way, we only found out Tuesday. If Lofty As were playing on the weekend it would have been fine, but they weren't so more care should have been taken. HFL don't have to do anymore, the rules are there and they enforce them. Mind you, there are plenty of other topics where the HFL could be doing a lot more...

Shanty lad from what i hear the meeting was a waste of time not alot came out of it. All the talk was about moving to cornerstone. Country div didn't really get a lot of time spent on it, can't see a move to country that's for sure. Looks like another couple of very tough years comming up for the raiders, I can't see a move to cornerstone being viable would cost the club plenty I would think.

Maybe no grey areas amateur footy, but there is one ridiculous rule that as far as i'm aware has been only employed this year.

Just to make it clear to those who are unsure, if a club has there A's playing saturday & B's playing sunday or vice versa on the same weekend during finals, then any player who played a-grade the previous week cannot play b-grade regardless! So due to the fact that lofty has had a few injured a-graders over the past few weeks, who will come back into the a-grade line up this saturday, there will be between 2 and 4 blokes who won't get a game this weekend in the b's, despite the fact that they've played the majority of the year there. However if the a's & b's were both playing on the the same day, it wouldn't be an issue to swap players between the grades. Is that not the most nonsensical rule you have ever come across???

Surely common sense will prevail and permits will be given

Interesting news ballhog. Curious as to how some of the senior players feel about this result.... or lack of result.

I can't speak on behalf of the players but if I was in their situation at a club like that being so bad for so long it would be hard to keep going back year after year, only to get pasted each week. I play to win not make up numbers.

1. Gigney my tip for mail medal tonight - you have to look at teams like Lofty who have players who can take votes from each other and BURCHY ( although Burchy is a well know and likeable figure and as far as i know wouldn't have given the umpires any advice on how than can improve - these things shouldn't but sometimes do factor in when votes are given ).

2. On yet another B grade fiasco where a team wins a final only to have the game taken off them because they played a player who wasn't eligible. Why can't clubs send thru thurs night or friday morning the B grade team list so the Hills League can check off the team prior to the weekends games , so that any non-eligible players are found before the match rather than embarrassingly for the HFL and both teams involved after the final siren has sounded.

3. Bridgewater - It only takes a few good people to roll up their sleeves and a positive and determined outlook on next season and things can improve . No one expects a flag next year but i would suggest 5 wins in each grade and an attempt at improving facilities would be a good goal.

And for those saying Birdwood will never win an A grade premiership - well that is a big time frame , what if someone over that way wins the LOTTO ?

Nunan just from Gigney for mine. Burchy to finish 3rd. Lofty have a much more even playing group than Barker & Blackwood and Nunan always polls well even when Mt.Barker have a bad year. Think Burchy might get a few votes stolen off him by other players. Can't see any other players figuring. Maybe Kaesler at Hahndorf as a darkhorse.

My Top 5 for Central League:
A Grade - Gigney(Blckwd) Burch(ML) Williams(IB) Nunan(MB) Ebert(Uri) - No Paticular order, will be close - Williams for mine
B Grade - Campbell(IB) Konangataa(IB) - Thats a bit bias isn't it Oh well.
Go G.Campbell do it for all the FFwds that get no votes at medal nights!!! Most dominant forward by a streak.

My Top 5 Country League:
B.Dawe (Mea) T.Habner (Ech) B.Pearce (Kers) L.Murphy (Nair) J.Sitters (TV - Roughy) Judging by results in paper this is ofcourse

Good luck to all tonight - have a good one - I know I will.

Congrats to T.Pope for Ironbank U/17's - Class act and thoroughly deserves the medal - Top S*^t young man.
