Hills Central Elimination Final
Hahndorf 12.8(80) Uraidla 9.17(71)

Hahndorf jumped out of the blocks to lead 6.4 to 0.2 at 1/4 time. Uraidla were up against it from then on. Hahndorf without Nicholas were too good and held on.

Also saw Gallagher did a collarbone or shoulder - I doubt whether he'll play next week depending on how bad it was.

Uri's had their chances but couldn't nail the goals. Sutherland gave away a crucial 50m and gimmee goal as well as another goal when he kicked out and hit a Hahndorf player inside the 50!!

I reckon the coach would be pretty disappointed with his own game.

Onkas beat Mt Barker in the B's.

Great win by the Birdwood Snr Colts over Mt Barker, about 12gl to 4gl. :D

Brett Ancell was good. He should poll well tonight at the Juniors medal count.

Lets relook at biggest underachiever for this year again after weekends results! Uraidla for the SANFL players and money spent by them, 5th spot is no where near what they should have finished with. Wheel starting to turn maybe. Watched a bit of game Sun, Suthurland had it in for Cooper, few late belts round head by Scotty. (Typical though i spose)
Good to see Birdwood win colts game, some good kids for future.

Good to see Uraidla fall in a hole goes to show that sometimes all the money spent doesn't bring success. All we need now is the same thing to happen to Mt. Lofty.

It's a sad day when you have to rely on other teams falling over to get any satisfaction out of footy results.

your right i do enjoy seeing teams that spend top dollar fall in holes, local footy should be about locals not who has a bigger cheque book.

After a dissapointing year for North Adelaide you can be sure there will be a clean out in a few weeks. The Roosters Paddock (Uraidla) will no doubt be hoping to lure a few more up for next season.

How many current Lofty A graders played juniors at Lofty? I would hazard a guess of 15. How many 'recruits' have played 50 plus games for Lofty? 4.

If bitter, green eyed individuals are waiting for Lofty to 'fall into a hole' they unfortunately have a few frustrating septembers ahead of them. The avearage age of Lofty's A grade would be lucky to push 24 and most of the A grade will be around for at least another 5 years.

What do you mean by that?

Are you referring to the incident in rd 18 where one of your snr colts stomped on the elbows of one ours which dislocated it? He then went on to laugh and brag about it.

It's funny how you talk to other clubs and they also believe Ironbank U17's are feral.

Let's just hope the Roosters give them the revenge they deserve and kick them out in straight sets.

It was a dissapointing loss yesterday, inaccuracy infront of goal really cost uri as did a poor 1st quater where the lads let the magpies get too far infront. As for Hahndorf , yes they played well but will struggle to match it with Barker next week, and even if they pass that test would be unlikely to beat Lofty or Blackwood.

Anyway, regarding the Uraidla list at the moment: Whilst there are some brilliant players that Uri have picked up from down the hill it must be mentioned that pleanty of local talent is in the A Grade mix eg, 3 Cox's, Pucka, Moulds just to name a few. Whilst they may have fallen short this year things are looking up for Uri in coming seasons, the locals will serve them well. J Pridham, R Kepa, C McIntee & K Sutton have all finished the season in fine form and will continue to improve. Meanwhile there is a team of gun senior colts featuring the likes of B Wotton, L Thomas, D Liebelt (Who have all played A Grade games this season) and probably 4-5 other future A Grade players. The club also has probably the youngest B Grade (minus Clothier) on the park who will continue to improve and should make the 5 next year. In the end, a dissapointing end to the season, but there is so much to look forward to.

Don't know what rock you just crawled out from but Lofty haven't spent a lot on players this year. 3 of the bigger $ recruits left at the start of the year for different reasons, and we don't pay locals as far as I know. As DM mentioned, 4 recruits have played over 50 games with Burchy notching up his 100th even though he left the club for a few years to have a crack at league footy; that has to be at least an 8-9 year association with the club.
Lofty have been smart with their recruiting over last 3-4 years, have developed the juniors well and laid the foundation for future success. So I agree, money doesn't bring success. Bitching about others success doesn't either.

So spearhead what about three years ago at the start of Mt Loftys success they would have spent more $$$ than any other HFL club to be where they are now.

Ballhog, let it go. Mt Lofty did what any club in their position had to do. They have now done it very well by retaining the players they recruited back then.
In my eyes, that is the key to success - retaining the recruits you get to the club to help develop the kids and locals coming through instead of throwing the these guys into the deep end and asking them to swim.

Having said all that, I don't want to see Lofty win forever! But I suppose they can win a couple more before the other red and white takes over

No, as i said, we spent smart. i don't know exact numbers, but where other clubs would spend $500/game on one player, we spent $150/game each on 3 players. We also recruited them off the field, made sure they were good blokes and good footballers. No one wants to play with a tosser who is just there for the coin. Most of these guys made the decision to hang around, even though some had offers for more from other clubs.
