Look up the mail medal book people and it will change your mind - compare that and come back to me to the so called LEGENDS mentioned before.

Doesn't Red Clothier have a room full of Mail Medals?

I would say 2 rooms

Rob 'Red' Clothier Has won five A grade mail medals, runner up three or four times (cant remember how many) Countless best and fairests (like ten or more) and i think he came runner up in the reserves magarey medal for sturt (what ever that medal is called) has played over 360 (325 of them A grade) games in the HFL. How does this record Compare to 'Muffy's', Mate? Red is an absolute champion and at 41 years of age he still manages to dominate games in the Bs.

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but Clothier tried out at Sturt, and didn't really succeed, is that correct?

8 mail medals - Sturt LEAGUE Premiership player - Zone representative side god knows how many times - B & F's - do not know the number but I am sure the Tailem Bend Honour board is full of M.Kartinyeri. I know he sounds like a pleb of a footballer with this record! Respect what he has done - what have you done pal! To me this is a legend footballers crudentials!!! Cannot do much more than that I do not think. Anyways they are all good players - just that Muffy is more decorated than all the above - Cheers for the discussion

Its only 3 Mail Medals mate, but he did spend time at Sturt and South, so could quite easily have finished up with 5 Medals. But i do agree with you, Muffy is a champ, won plenty of games for Tailem over the years when he was there, including the 95 grand final against Redlegs, which James May dominated in the first half til injured, then Muffy dominated the second half.

Muffy was/is a great player but this is a Hills football site and because we only saw the tail end of his career he won't ever rank as a great hills player. Red Clothier's achievements must make him the best footballer to have ever played in the HFL - no one has even come close to matching his credentials.

Nobody is disputing what Muffy has done, and likewise the James boys who played in and won AFL Grand Finals are legendary but their achievements were made outside this league.

OKO .. of course we respect your opinion, but as stated, HFL thread, and if talking 'legends' Muffy certainly didn't live up to expectations to be classified as such ... wasn't around in 2002 Sturt flag due to itinerant nature, but may have played in loss to Port in '98 under Fabulous Phil? D. King a handy player at Norwood, then returned to pick up numerous best and fairests for Lobey, and together with J. Sziller who is a GENUINE SANFL premiership player at WWT Eagles, gave something back to junior club, and played in 2002 flag. Red Clothier has more medals than Michael Phelps as well as past HFL rep skipper and captain, Bridgewater coach and did crack it for a league berth with Sturt. Muffy may (have) be good but unfortunately HFL fraternity got to see it on only a couple of occasions. Would rate Shane Russell as having a bigger impact in his time at Thunder Park and playing rep and Southern Districts football. If we are on the subject of a HFL legends 'hall of fame', what are the forum's thoughts on possible modern day nominations. Reckon Bots Houlahan, Shayne McDonald, Matt Cooper, Brett James, Smiler Brumpton would be among the short list .... sorry OKO... no spot for Muffy imo!

oko if muffy played in a sturt flag he must have played in the 70s with legends of the game like sandy nelson, and ricky davies, he didnt play in 2002, and there is no way in hell he half as good as jake sziller king brothers and matthew cooper who has won 2 SANFL flags, now thats a champion player.. i never saw jake damian jason or matthew leave clubs mid season....

Brad Burch is well on his way IMO - would love to see him win a mail.
If Trigger comes back and continues his domination, he'd be up there too and Big Owen would be a much happier man.
I agree with Dave Murphey - great player.
