2 Old 2 Slow wrote:Haha funny speculation as soon as a coach becomes available... only happened last night with Exelby & have heard that already 3 clubs are chasing him... none of which are St Kilda (would somebody please tell him).

Surely Nairne job not up for grabs... what about Dicky Muncan, thought he was still signed on for next yr? Playing finals Sunday...

nairne job is up for grabs... unless we pull off a few upsets in the finals race and Dicky Muncan stays on as coach.

2 old 2 slow you should have waited unti today to make the comment about the crows and the pies.

The crows should play netball with that little zone that they rely on. If teams get through it they have no other game plan to go to. They should have teamed up with the thunderbirds this year not the power, they could have trained together!!!

I presume you are sitting on a booster seat so that you can see you computer screen little man.

Apparently 2 old 2 slow is in the running for the junior medal!

he has been playing under a different name, this is the only way he can play against people his own size.

He is still playing back pocket though and is not allowed to take kick ins.

Hang in there mate you may just be a chance.

What's with the lack of talk regarding the two finals over the weekend? Both are set to be absolute corkers.

I must say how surprised i am at Blackwood seemingly beating Uraidla quite easily. That means the cabbage finish 4th and could have their work cut out this week against Hahndorf...although not if the german's replicate saturdays performance after qtr time on saturday.

For anyone interested, saturday was the first time the two most dominate ruckmen in the comp locked horns...Nicholas of Hahndorf and Bawden of the Devils. Some might argue that that spanner from Blackwood is alright as well but he hasn't done a lot both times he's played the devs so i stand by my former comment. Anyway, Bawden absolutely smashed Nicholas in all facets of the game and rightly deserved his best on ground award. He was most definately the catalyst behind the 20 goal turn around from quarter time, along with the captain Keith Hutting who kicked four consecutive goals at one stage in the second qtr.

Ominous signs for anyone thinking the devs couldn't go the three-peat.

At this stage you'd have to be looking at a Blackwood v Lofty GF...thoughts?

Blackwood v Uraidla on Saturday showed the cabbage at its very worst, or at least i hope so. With some notable exceptions such as young gun Robbie Kepa, the Uri team were woeful. Their use of the ball was terrible, so many unforced errors. A few of the Uraidla players not quite at full health on the weekend gone including Richards, A Cox and Schapel, however that is far from an excuse. Uri now putting themselves into a tough position with no second chance and a tough game, probably against Barker even if they do beat Hahndorf, which i expect they will.

On the other side of the coin Blackwood were brilliant, they dominated every facet of the game and should get up next weekend. Will be a big threat to Lofty for the flag but the field is still wide open across the 5. All teams could give it a red hot go on their given day. Looking forward to both the A Grade matches this weekend coming.

In reply Dashin - I must say that neither Nicholas or Bawden really impressed me in the two games we played - compared to what was already in the competition that is. Bawden still the best ruckman by a streak in the Hills central. Was glad he wasn't playing against the Thunderers - not that it really made a difference that weekend.
Mt Lofty in my eyes are streaks ahead of any opposition we have faced this year and I believe the only things that will stop them going the three-peat is injuries to key position players or the weather. I still think if the heavens open up over the next few weeks that Mt Barker will be a big shot at an upset. They play wet weather football superbly.
Other than that it is all Mt Lofty for mine in 09.
Funny thing though finals and anything can happen and often does - but I doubt it. Good luck to them, they have been the best side all year & deserve it if it happens.

Mt. Barker for me, with Brett Heinrich to kick 10 goals from playing rover changing fwd pocket.

This man will also win the best on ground medal because he is an absolute inspiration to all with his massive build and incredible strength. The boy should be on the front of the 'Wheeties' packet.

C'mon Heinrich, you can do it!!!

Regarding Nicholas v Bawden: to be fair, Nicholas played a pretty good first half and was part of the reason Hahndorf were up at quarter time. I think he got injured too but anyone who saw Bawden's game couldn't help but be impressed by his mobility for a guy his height. His athleticism was impressive- dont see too many guys his height running around/ past opposition midfielders.

On another note, well done to Daniel Exelby. Definitely a player who earnt respect from the opposition the way he went about his footy and will no doubt be missed in the HFL.

Silky I think Hahndorf play Uraidla and Blackwood play Barker this week.
