Yes the rumour going around thd league for the last three months involves the bays & there ex crow full forward. God knows if it is true I spoke to the bays assistant coach today & he knew nothing about it so god knows.
Unbelievable to see Myponga knock off willunga today, with 8 goals scored for the day. Heard that Myponga might be losing there elimination final due to the poor state of the ground, creeks to pick it up if so. Let's hope this is the case shouldn't have to play in a mud heap for a final.
Strath v enc bay was a good close tussle all day. A few strange umpire decisions & soft send offs didn't help strath. Perrie, Wilson & hammer at full forward were the three who stepped it up when the game was on the line. Davis neale or perrie are big chances for the mail medal. Perrie rucked all day apart from the last ten minutes, they struggled when he wasn't in the ruck. Bring on the finals!

3 things I learnt today

1. The evenness of the comp points to a cracking finals series. There are sides in the finals we'd beat and in doing so I'd bet my left nut and there's sides out if the 5 that I wouldn't be confident of beating. It's interesting how everyone seems to have a 'bogey' side

2. Rumors and 2014 talk is very interesting. But until paper is penned anything can happen

3. Although politically incorrect, there is still a spot in footy for the good old fashioned streaker
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

Yes kitm, I believe the almighty will make the call today on whether Pongy keep the elim final, but word was strong it'll be at the Creek. Not sure how McLaren is after all that rain either..... Meanwhile VH oval will be sitting there absolutely pristine with not one spot of mud in sight. One player even commented yesterday that if anything, it was a bit firm!! Rotation policy... Pfft

Man for man they look very good especially with T Brown back. If they played like a team they will win from 5th....The big egos in the side might just stop that from happening.

Hey there Yetti!!

Unfortunately Victir played their best game for the year in round one and haven't managed to bring that form to the table since. But they have gelled as a unit much better as the season has gone on and on their day are as good as any side. Tough gig to come from the elim though. Finishing top will give bays the favourites tag for sure but I think they should hold off on ordering the lobster thermidores just yet. History says that is a dangerous practice!

Encounter Bay out in straight sets, I've seen the future!!
Willunga and LC grand final, it'll be close but the Dees will notch up yet another premiership.

And only 2 ex AFC in the league, perries head is too rough for him to pull off such a feat so looks like its pretty boy welsh kicking some goals off field!

Also yeah scrap any finals at the myponga wasteland. Mclarens oval has most likely recovered as training was elsewhere last week. If they can't have it, we will. No better deck than found at the home of the mighty demons

Does someone know why Langhorne Creek may host sundays final and not another club? maybe we should move the season to a summer comp so as there's no mud on the ovals to worry about.

old fullback, I reckon if you get allocated a final you GET that final. So it doesn't rain all week and Mypo's ground dries out "a bit" and you play on what you get. Creeks seem to be the leagues buddies but. Another 3rd, another 11-12 points for 2014.

Yes footy is a winter sport and you should play to the conditions. No-one is advantaged.

As for how it's a the Creek - there is a roster with a reserve list and that's how they got it.

Yes yes footy is a winter sport etc etc. But come finals time surely we want to see the best sides play quality skillful football on a decent deck??

Yeah the roster system has it merit and the Myponga club have worked their butts off on their ground to lift the oval standard...but the scoreline of 5 goals to 3 at Pongy on Sat compared to all the other games says it all.

C'mon FOD the oval is not what it was 10-15 years ago. The club asked to have until Tuesday to get it in order - which it will be with no rain this week. We have had 365mm of rain from July. Going on the info I've received & the text messages I saw during our game, the decision was already made before Saturday.... Perhaps a conflict of interest??

Yes the work done is fantastic WOW. The official line I heard Sat night was the decision would be made Sunday.....there did seem to be the feeling that it would be moved though. That could have been due to the conspiracy theory, or maybe given how it was Sat it was highly unlikely to be better Sunday.
I'm not sure the if move to a better surface favours us or Strath more, but I'd like to see a good game all the same.
Would the extra 2 days have made that much difference?
Happy to move it to Victor... No sign of mud anywhere. May need to water it this week!

Well the change of venue is already on the GSFL website, so i would agree that the decision was made before the weekend....

I think well done to the GSFL for making the call. We wouldn't want a rubbish finals series like what has been seen in the Hills Country league with the state of ovals. I agree with FOD that the scores from the weekend sugggested the oval was not good but......should have assessed it on Tuesday. That gives Pongy a chance to get it right and gives Creeks a chance to cater if they get the last minute call.

Absolutely agree - we would of asked for it to be moved if it wasn't up to standard. I can tell you that the club even voted on moving the game Saturday vs Willunga. If it wasn't for the lost revenue & that the netball would still be at pongy it probably would of got up.
